"First year of PS2 a waste?"

I dunno if any1 is gonna agree with me on this one, but I think that the first year of the PS2 has been almost a waste of time, it started well with SSX, quake revolution was ok no online play though, GT3 is amazing and is well worth it, but what else!?? Tekken Tag, what a let down, driving emotion type S made me laugh and ridge racer 5 barely scraped past the finish line! Is that it, is that what £300 brings you over one year, there should be at least 40 top class titles to choose from! At least next year looks a lot more promising, with the likes of Metal Gear Solid 2, Tekken 4 and Devil May Cry in the pipeline the PS2 is looking up, but the fact remains that 1 year of the PS2's short lifespan has gone! Has the first year been a waste?

Yeah the xbox looks like it could wipe the floor with everything else but the thing is will it? I'm grabing myself a GC when rezero is released but i still reckon the PS2 will be my most played on.

I know it's all a matter of opinion, and I'm in a minority, but to me, that's because Q3 isn't a very good game. I had it on the PC and was bored after 2 plays.

I've got to admit that I've always been very tempted to go for the PS2 myself.

The only thing that stopped me in the first instance was finding out how good the Dreamcast really was by getting hold of the quality titles that were released since February this year, and the fact that we are now so close to the XBox launch and the GC launch that I feel holding out at least until November (when they've both been launched in the US) would be wise.

After that I'll have had plenty of feedback from the US on how both of the new consoles have been received by the public, and some indication on how they compare to the PS2, then I can finalise my decision.

The first few months of the PS2 launch did look very shaky, but I'll be the first to admit that if I do go for the XBox in the end (I can't afford both PS2 AND XBox), I'll always miss out on FF9 on the PS2, GT3, Sons of Liberty, and about 100 other quality titles that are and will remain exclusive to the PS2.

I just hope that I'll be as happy with an XBox as the PS2 owners are with their console, you couldn't really ask for more than that.

Dude the PS2 isn't perfect there's no way anyone can say that, but it does have a heap load going for it and with the only other alternitive of a big box that is no treat of being nicked due to the size and weight of the thing and the cuddley gamecube the PS2 will be way ahead, bring on silent hill 2, MGS2, devil may cry, alone in the dark 4 and CVX. and it'll show the most stunning water effecs you've ever seen too.

I dont really care if there are lots of sequels, sure i want some new stuff, but so long as the sequels offer something new and are good games, i dont care.

nah it'll never stop just like the "squares" on the PS1 when this ancient thing from 1995 has come all the way from awful graphics in tomb raider to GT2, dino crises, res 3, final fantasy and all the rest which are very hard to spot the so called "squares".

Nothing is going to stop me playing the excellent games the PS2 has to offer, silent hill 2, MGS2, CVX, jak and daxter and who said sony aren't imaginative? parappa the rapper and ape escape are coming to the PS2 and i can't wait.
