I want to know if this is going to be a full-blown RPG? Like the Final Fantasy's of old.

I'm thinking of getting it y'see.

(I would have put more to this thread, but I can't think of anything else I want to add.)

well, from a Nintendo mag, and a friend who has played it...it seems that it is less of a FF style rpg, and more of an adventure. There is less of storyline, it is more action-y. I think it is less stats-based, and the fighting is not turn based, apparently.

You're right it's not a conventional Final Fantasy title at all. The fighting is in real-time not turn based, and the game only really comes alive with 2 or more players, with GBAs or SPs needed (along with a link cable apiece) for extra players.

From what I gather from previews and reviews its nothing like Final Fantasy games of old but instead a hack and slash adventure with some nice audio and visuals. A lot have said it isn't worth playing in single player unless you use the GBA and link up features. I will give it a rental on release and judge for myself, bit disappointed though, was looking for a decent RPG game before Skies of Arcadia 2.

I'll be buying this at launch. Guaranteed. We got 3 SPs in the house so that should make for some mad co-op, er, madness.

Clear one thing up though? You don't need any carts in the GBAs do you? Like a GBA version of FF?

No according to nintendo it will be the same system as was used with the LoZ: Wind Waker where you could get Tingle to do hidden stuff for you through the gba.

Ok, thanks. Thought there was going to be extra expense there, what with having to buy 3 GBA games too!

The game includes a free GBA to GC link cable by the way - at least with the first lot anyway.

Silly.

If it was useable with 4 controllers, I'd snap it up. But it appears to be only for those who are criminally rich. Unless the single player is in fact also outstanding.
