I like it yes, well done Sony. Its a good game, but it has major flaws and should be called GT2.2! If Sony were to release this game on the Playstation people would be in uproar, only the graphics save it from being any different to its predescessor and the fact it has 450 less cars to choose from.
Come to think of it, it more of a show off from Sony to display the Playstation 2's graphic and visual abilities.
'Oh look at the amazing sunglare effect' the man in the shop said to a customer.
'Oh well lets not play the game and look at the sun, shall we? Doffus!' I muttered.
Its not that special come to think of it. It is a great racer, but it has the same nice cars GT2 had (but less), its still got the same great control, and a great game length, infact it even has some of the same courses.
One whole year ago a game called Metropolis Street Racer was released onto a console which is no longer being made, it had practically the same or better visuals, a better progression system and overall was a better game. Yet it was completely overlooked by most and was left to only selling moderately well!
Don't get me wrong, I love the way Sony have gotten away with it, and yes its a great game, but its not worth buying a console for (a £300 console), it still has the same dodgy damage system and the oppenents still feel so computerised (so much for the chip), oh, and when the wheel does work its nice and easy..
Sony are claiming that GT3 is the fastest ever selling game, I claim it to be the fastest selling ever upgrade!
Seriously, visuals have taken over! Gone is good gameplay. Thank God for the GB Advance!
'I spit in Sony's eye and it fizz!'
er-yes
DualShock2 is the PS2 version - almost identical, but all of the buttons except Start and Select are analogue - the harder you press, the more effect you get. (But only in games programmed to use the analogue function.)
anyway, could someone please tell me whats the difference between a dual shock pad and dual shock2? i already got a dualshock 1 so do i need to get another dual shock2 for my PS2?

Yeah, I think you're right, I still have an old Analogue one, and it seems a bit larger.
Dual Shock 2 Controller is perfect! My hands have never hurt after using it.

haven't played red faction but everyone seems to like it, cybernet said it has a better muliplayer than goldeneye and called it a much better game.

Definitely. GET IT!!
The single player mode is awesome-as is the multiplayer!
Are the PSX pads the same shape/size as PS2 pads?
I found the PSX pads too small and I thought they were uncomfortable.
But thats just me, I know loads of people that like them.
I just personally prefer the DC pad.
i find the sony controller the most comptable (spelt wrong) but i guess it's all down to taste.
some old cobblers.
I would imagine designing the the controller for a console is one of the most difficult things to get right. Everyone has different sized hands, everyone prefers different shpaes etc. It's going to be difficult and not everyone will like the result.
As for the buttons thingy, well, think about it. If the DC trigger travels, say 3cm. That means to get 50% power while going round a corner, you need to hold it around 1.5 cm in, but you don't need to be accurate as there is more room for error. If you hold it between 1.3 and 1.7 cm, you probably won't notice much different between the speed.
With the PS2 analogue buttons, the travel is much less, maybe around 1cm, if that. To get 50% power while cornering in GT3 you need to hold the button about 0.5 cm in. But you need to be more accurate.
If you hold it at 0.3 cm, you're only at 30% power instead of 50%.
See what I mean?
As Wookiee, says, it's down to personal preference and what you're used to.

As far as I know, there is an adapter available to use with Bleem which allows you to connect a PS controller.
It can be done, but not without the extra cost of an adapter.
Mind you, if everything was standard, there'd be no individuality in the consoles. Hence no console wars. To me that's a good thing, but what the hell would Newbies talk about? :-)
