I am sorry but I have had it up to here (er-yes points to the sky) with people praising this game!

I like it yes, well done Sony. Its a good game, but it has major flaws and should be called GT2.2! If Sony were to release this game on the Playstation people would be in uproar, only the graphics save it from being any different to its predescessor and the fact it has 450 less cars to choose from.

Come to think of it, it more of a show off from Sony to display the Playstation 2's graphic and visual abilities.

'Oh look at the amazing sunglare effect' the man in the shop said to a customer.

'Oh well lets not play the game and look at the sun, shall we? Doffus!' I muttered.

Its not that special come to think of it. It is a great racer, but it has the same nice cars GT2 had (but less), its still got the same great control, and a great game length, infact it even has some of the same courses.

One whole year ago a game called Metropolis Street Racer was released onto a console which is no longer being made, it had practically the same or better visuals, a better progression system and overall was a better game. Yet it was completely overlooked by most and was left to only selling moderately well!

Don't get me wrong, I love the way Sony have gotten away with it, and yes its a great game, but its not worth buying a console for (a £300 console), it still has the same dodgy damage system and the oppenents still feel so computerised (so much for the chip), oh, and when the wheel does work its nice and easy..

Sony are claiming that GT3 is the fastest ever selling game, I claim it to be the fastest selling ever upgrade!

Seriously, visuals have taken over! Gone is good gameplay. Thank God for the GB Advance!

'I spit in Sony's eye and it fizz!'

Why is it that everyone who DOES NOT own the game is going on and on about.
GT3 aint perfect but it's definatly one of the best all format games.

your horner or whatever
The dreamcast controller is NOTHING like the PS2's, the dual shock 2 is the most well designed controller every made, It fits nicely into your hands and it's perfect size, WOW triggers cool huh !! the PS2 has every button L1,L2,R1,R2 X,T,C,S, 2 analog sticks and the d pad ALL ANALOG and they are the most sensitive ever seen on any controller.

and don't say i don't know what i'm on about cus i've owned both.

True I suppose. But if it can be done via Bleem (For GT2 on the DC) It must be possible.

What I want to know is, what sort of game needs loads of buttone anyway?

The most addictive game I've played recently is Virtua Tennis, that uses the stick and just 2 buttons.

I did! Especially the Womb Broom one!

It could, because of the number of buttons. The DualShock2 has all analogue, which I don't think the DC does. It also has four more buttons I think - there are two shoulder buttons on each side, and the left and right analogue stick can also be pressed 'into' the pad, making buttons L3 and R3.

And game which makes use of all of those buttons (and some do) would be unplayable with a DC controller.

You should have seen the tags I had yesterday!!

I'm tempted to go back to the good old "eh?" to be honest, but we'll have to see.

As for the GT3 thing, it's very true what you say. It does all come down to what your used to, and getting used to it if it's new.

Obviously you play GT3 quite a bit so I'd imagine that you get used to the buttons and have no problems with them.

If I tried to play it would feel very strange as I'm used to the scalextric style trigger the DC pad has. But it goes the other way, the DC pad I like so much would feel strange to you as you're used to the PS2 pad.

It's swings and roundabouts basically.

What I would like to see is an adaptor come out so you could use any pad with any console. Most games allow you to calibrate the controls so it couldn't be too difficult, could it?

Again, it all depends on what you get used to. I have no trouble with them.

And by the way, your new/current tagline is very near the mark!

Ok, my long(ish) post earlier slating GT3 may seem a bit harsh.

It is an amazing game, don't get me wrong, but I prefer M:SR.

Ideally, if I could afford it, I'd buy a PS2 for GT3 and an XBox for Project Gotham Racing as I love driving games, but I'm not that rich.

I got GT3 on the release day, and not having nuch time to play games recently, i was like "wow! look at the lighting effects" and stuff like that. But I got a chance to sit down and play it last night, and you really appreciate what a great game it is. You get sucked in. You get that just one more go feeling. Its really a joy to play.

Bur surely, the fact that they are buttons mean they don't travel that far. Surely it makes it more difficult to hold a steady speed while cornering?

Ah, but the DualShock2 has teh equivalent of four 'trigger' buttons (L1/L2/R1/R2) and you can map all of the controls to whichever button you like - even the analogue sticks!

As for the rest of your post... it's all fair comment. I've already said that GT3 was never intended to be revolutionary. It's just better than most had hoped!

8 out of 10 PS2's said their owners preferred it.

So you're saying that the DC doesn't have analogue controls? You fool, the DC is probably better for driving games as it has 2 triggers, Scalextric style, which makes it MUCH easier to control gradual braking and accelreating. Please stop coming out with crap like this because it shows that you blatantly don't know what you're talking about.

Moving on from that, to compare GT3 with M:SR I would have to say I prefer M:SR. Ok, I admit, the graphics aren't as good as GT3, there's no real time lighting for a start, but that deosn't matter.

To start with, M:SR has a revolutionary way to get through the game: Kudos. I'm sure most of you know how it works so I won't go into it here.

Also, it's possible to NEVER finish M:SR. Yeah, you can do all the Chapters and finish all the challeneges, but you alway shave that option of replaying, just to get your Kudos score higher.

With GT3, once you've won all the races (Which admittedly, will take a long time), that's it, no more to do.

Moving on to the multiplayer M:SR has an 8 player tournament option, where you race Winner Stays On style.

Sound, M:SR also has the radio/cd mode that loads of people seem to think is really great in GT3. IT HAS BEEN DONE BEFORE YOU KNOW. GT3 isn't the first game to have it, neither's M:SR, Lotus 3 (and I think Jaguar XJ220) had it on the Amiga, so it's hardly revolutionary.

All in all, I prefer M:SR, but thats my personal opinion, simply because I haven't wasted, sorry, spent £300 on a console which I feel I need to justify by having a game with flashy graphics and not much else.

:-)
