I like it yes, well done Sony. Its a good game, but it has major flaws and should be called GT2.2! If Sony were to release this game on the Playstation people would be in uproar, only the graphics save it from being any different to its predescessor and the fact it has 450 less cars to choose from.
Come to think of it, it more of a show off from Sony to display the Playstation 2's graphic and visual abilities.
'Oh look at the amazing sunglare effect' the man in the shop said to a customer.
'Oh well lets not play the game and look at the sun, shall we? Doffus!' I muttered.
Its not that special come to think of it. It is a great racer, but it has the same nice cars GT2 had (but less), its still got the same great control, and a great game length, infact it even has some of the same courses.
One whole year ago a game called Metropolis Street Racer was released onto a console which is no longer being made, it had practically the same or better visuals, a better progression system and overall was a better game. Yet it was completely overlooked by most and was left to only selling moderately well!
Don't get me wrong, I love the way Sony have gotten away with it, and yes its a great game, but its not worth buying a console for (a £300 console), it still has the same dodgy damage system and the oppenents still feel so computerised (so much for the chip), oh, and when the wheel does work its nice and easy..
Sony are claiming that GT3 is the fastest ever selling game, I claim it to be the fastest selling ever upgrade!
Seriously, visuals have taken over! Gone is good gameplay. Thank God for the GB Advance!
'I spit in Sony's eye and it fizz!'
er-yes

NiGHTS!

Your all right its not a sequal, but the makers didnt want it to be either, thats why originally it was going to have only around 50 cars with about 4 tracks in it.
It was aimed to be an upgrade and one of the launch titles to be released at the time of ps2 in 2000, (hence the name gt2000!). As time went on more and more cars were added along with tracks, moving the release date into 2001. Now the date had missed the launch of the ps2 the Japanese bloke who is the gt boss, wanted everything to be perfect, for the new release date.
Once nearly finished they realised that gt2000 would not be appropriate anymore and seeing though it was big enough to be called a game of its own (and it is!!!) the makers not sony decided to call it GT3.
Some replies i have read say it is just sony showing of its graphics, uummmm sony had nothing to do with it, it was the makers who were only using the real ability of the ps2 as they always have done with playstation. Other replies read, say games like red faction deserve the attention, No red faction only deserves the attention of its genre, as everybody has different opinions eg. some people prefer beat-em-ups others like racing and others like shoot-em-ups etc, etc!
The only word i can find to describe most of you is jealous, (as many of the people who are moaning about the brilliant graphics seem to be Dreamcast owners) if you disagree then please explain why you are moaning about ps2's brilliant graphics as most normal people would see that as being a good thing.
As for GT3 everyone is entitled to there own opinion, and the solution for those people is dont buy the games if you dont like them! As simple as that! Dont start moaning about it and calling it just a bad upgrade because it is a brilliant game and thats why it is so succesful!
An official interview with the gt boss also revealed that there will be a proper sequal for ps2 as well as a Gtnetwork game for the upcoming online future of the ps2.
