After due consideration here are the results.

Everybody wants User Profiles.

RBS says lean some of the GAD prizes towards lesser forums to boost them and he suggests we include a "what's going on in the forums" or "forum news" somewhere.

Gaming Boy would like to see more input from the staff to start topics and kick-start discussion.

Grix suggests we have a tournament where we all download game to our PC and play against each other.

er-no wants a "who is here" link. You click on it and it tells you the names of most recent posters (good idea). And er-no wants the Notables to be given something to do (a request which I have just complied with in Chat forums)

TheBest_2K1 is keen on putting people in a hot seat. Everybody fires questions at the poor so...

Quazimodo would like links to your "Latest Post" and your web site url in your stats window (excellent).

Meka would like us to hold a song contest and have counters to see how many people have read a thread. pb backs this up with a similar request on reviews.

Cookie Monster suggests a Cluedo-style murder mystery event.

Dan2K1 would like on-line darts.

Dringo is keen to repeat some "Opposite Posts" - I believe this is intended to be head to head challenges on specific arguments.

Chr!stos says we should sometimes vote for Gameaday winners, instead of them being always picked by staff.

Salevunit suggested a Winning Posts Forum (view only), plus Tag of the Day competitions, Search Facilities and Caution Tags. The latter is a particularly strong suggestion, i.e. to give warning tags to people likely to face a ban.

BUT THE WINNER IS:
The prize is for the best SET of suggestions. The winner is SHEEPY for the following ideas:

FOG Lotto
Round Number Prizes (e.g. at 10,000 posts in a forum)
"Number Day" I think this means we would all be anonymous.
Vote people off the forums Big Brother style (love that).
Guess the Phantom Poster.
Complaint Button (already in place now with the report link)
Improve the message filter and the feedback from it.

Contratulations SHEEPY and I hope you enjoy munching your prize.

Thank you again to all those who contributed and sorry not to be able to mention everybody.

*********

These were the original rules.

This latest EXTRA GAMEADAY is for the best SET of suggestions for "adding life" to the forums.

Imagine that you are in charge of the forums. What would you do to start some interesting debate or to make the place more interesting?

Please DO NOT suggest things which require (much) programming. And don't suggest a chart of Gameaday winners as it is already being sorted.

We already have:
Top Posters chart
Notable/Regular/Newbie system with 'orrible colours
Voting for Notables
Extra Gameaday Prizes
Protected "Prime Topics" forum
"Stats" for history on contributors
Taglines

Closing date is August 1st or shortly thereafter, and it's the best set that wins. All the posts that you make will count towards your set.

Ideas: Longer tagiles, Tagpictures, nicer colours, border down the side in discussion pages, reward for becoming a notable, Newbies forum so people can pick up the rules without getting bullied and annoying others, ban certain topic names EG "I'm bored", "I'm going to bed now", "this sucks" etc, spellcheck and grammar check, swearing allowed in certain posts if allowed and warned EG "What do you think of Britney Spears" etc (sorry to all BS fans!)

Right for once I seem to be on a role.. lets see!

ah ha

Might be lots of programming... I saw this on Aberdeen FC chat... You search a for a topic or your name and a list is produced with that one topic or all of them.

Ideal for 'lonf-time' users and others to POP their old work, maybe for a laugh or just to see how wrong their predictions were at a certain time.

Nice and easy to find them rather than putting in random numbers in the address bar to go back to the past... also old topics always make great talking points :D

Another improvement with the Christmas thing is why not give out another free gift to those hard working regulars that have been active for say 6-8 months of that year... like this Christmas offer those who have posted a certain number of things in a certain period of time... making you seem all nice and great again and lots of...

" Thanks SR "
" SR are so kind "
" We Love SR "

Making posters seem happy and making you look good to new customers and the enemy.

So might cost a bit but hey :D

When a topic has been left dormant for a few weeks and had many replies in its day and somebody...

POP to the TOP

The a little picture replaces the new sympol with maybe a POP one in blue or pink or whatever.

This could easily be done by if the topic has been left untouched for a month or so and had more than 15-20 replies it gets this lovely symbol... it would look good and stop people getting confused with it being new or old... BELIEVE ME IT HAPPENS :D

More of another improvement here but hey...

Why not at Christmas or Birthdays sent out a lovely card on it.. with a snowman or a cuddly bear just to show how kind and loving you all are.

You know the address's and most birthdays and when Christmas is I hope :D. So why not make things all the merrier than they already are.

Give a kind of new prize system!

Two winning FAD's can be exchanged for one game!

Two winning GAD's can be exchanged for a larger price!

That kind of thing! It would cause more people to post and post much better quality of work, which would increase the forum quality as more people go for the second prize!

:)

On that thought why not on some days just stop Gameaday and Filmaday and see what results happen and moniter them?

Hey it would cause a talking point on the forums :D

Hmmm life on the forums...

Well you have the EXTRA EXTRA GADs and FADs...

Well how about a lucky dip scenario every so often.

What I mean is that say 7 days of the year... Gameaday and Filmaday are substituted for something maybe larger like a console or phone or maybe something smaller like a phone holder... thats the novelty.

Once the person has won that day they are given the choice to gamble their prize to maybe get a larger one or a smaller... It could be set up in advance and many hundreds of GAD and FAD attempts would be posted creating many QUALITY posts or just a load of mince, or maybe not tell until the winner has been anouncided making it much more exciting.

They could discuss what choice to make with others on the forums!
