After due consideration here are the results.

Everybody wants User Profiles.

RBS says lean some of the GAD prizes towards lesser forums to boost them and he suggests we include a "what's going on in the forums" or "forum news" somewhere.

Gaming Boy would like to see more input from the staff to start topics and kick-start discussion.

Grix suggests we have a tournament where we all download game to our PC and play against each other.

er-no wants a "who is here" link. You click on it and it tells you the names of most recent posters (good idea). And er-no wants the Notables to be given something to do (a request which I have just complied with in Chat forums)

TheBest_2K1 is keen on putting people in a hot seat. Everybody fires questions at the poor so...

Quazimodo would like links to your "Latest Post" and your web site url in your stats window (excellent).

Meka would like us to hold a song contest and have counters to see how many people have read a thread. pb backs this up with a similar request on reviews.

Cookie Monster suggests a Cluedo-style murder mystery event.

Dan2K1 would like on-line darts.

Dringo is keen to repeat some "Opposite Posts" - I believe this is intended to be head to head challenges on specific arguments.

Chr!stos says we should sometimes vote for Gameaday winners, instead of them being always picked by staff.

Salevunit suggested a Winning Posts Forum (view only), plus Tag of the Day competitions, Search Facilities and Caution Tags. The latter is a particularly strong suggestion, i.e. to give warning tags to people likely to face a ban.

BUT THE WINNER IS:
The prize is for the best SET of suggestions. The winner is SHEEPY for the following ideas:

FOG Lotto
Round Number Prizes (e.g. at 10,000 posts in a forum)
"Number Day" I think this means we would all be anonymous.
Vote people off the forums Big Brother style (love that).
Guess the Phantom Poster.
Complaint Button (already in place now with the report link)
Improve the message filter and the feedback from it.

Contratulations SHEEPY and I hope you enjoy munching your prize.

Thank you again to all those who contributed and sorry not to be able to mention everybody.

*********

These were the original rules.

This latest EXTRA GAMEADAY is for the best SET of suggestions for "adding life" to the forums.

Imagine that you are in charge of the forums. What would you do to start some interesting debate or to make the place more interesting?

Please DO NOT suggest things which require (much) programming. And don't suggest a chart of Gameaday winners as it is already being sorted.

We already have:
Top Posters chart
Notable/Regular/Newbie system with 'orrible colours
Voting for Notables
Extra Gameaday Prizes
Protected "Prime Topics" forum
"Stats" for history on contributors
Taglines

Closing date is August 1st or shortly thereafter, and it's the best set that wins. All the posts that you make will count towards your set.

Maybe once a month or week some member of staff could start a political debate on the ' Life etc forum' get everyone giving their views on those subjects. Maybe start topics off in sport etc.

When I say start... I mean encourage to get discussions going and to give the posters a feel they have had a good discussion put a mention on the upwire and a link to it.

'Life in the forums' well as I have I mentioned before it would be great to know who is in the forums at the time you are.... this cane be done by having in each forum a list of the last posters and a link to the topic... its not much programming and its definetely worth it...

eg.. Click the 'Who is here' link... it will show the posts in the FOG Prime for the last five minutes in a list..

1) RBS posted in the World's Longest Record Attempt.
18:46:09
2) RBS posted in the World's Longest Record Attempt.
18:46:14
3) RBS posted in the World's Longest Record Attempt.
18:46:56

Obviously you can change the time but you get the idea!

As we know the stories and other things (SRW etc.) are popular and the posters give a lot of time and effort in to them. Why not make them official of such... give them extra page on site... There own forum... Announce on upwire when say next SRW should be expected... start topics for people to ask about them, as I myself have sometimes found it difficult to know every last detail in the story.

Once again give it a fancy colour on forums... Maybe when you are about to post in topic a message shall appear giving certain guidlines for instance... do not chat... use proper grammar and spelling... maybe a brief of the plot.

IF there is a clear contender for GAD or FAD some posters could choose to place a star next to that post, they only get oneaday (:D). They can't put star on their own post but on somebodys else. This may get attention from judge as it may not have before... and the people get the good feeling of helping it get the justice they feel it deserves.

Have a monthly competition on all the available console with a selected game, they must enter a time of complete a challange and submit there score, this will increase life on the forums as more people will here of the competitions!

Prizes don't really have to be offered, just the fact of having the best time in the game would be enough and having it in the mag.. which might increase registered users!

This forum is already the most exiting one on the web.

It'll take me a while to come up with a new idea...

Give some reliable posters the reponsible to 'edit' some of the posts on the forums... basic admin job.. if they wish they can change grammar on people's post... maybe deleting foul language or abuse and maybe the occasional topic... and as in chat now there was/is a topic with too many exclamation marks which makes forum look untidy so the users shorten them... makes sense as long as they don't abuse their power. :)

Next to the topic name you should include the word 'Hot' as well as 'new' if the topic has had a certain amount of replies in a certain time...

...I reckon a topic could be called 'hot' if its had fifteen replies in half an hour...

Hmmm

Well as we know there is an upwire and is in the right hand column next to Gameaday and such... I like upwire but to be honest I don't really read to much of the stuff as I just want to head to the forums and see what is happening so why not get a member of staff to put the upwire messgae onto every forum and make it a different colour say GOLD or BLACK or PINK... this being different makes users enter the topic and discuss the recent news.

Perfect.
