The "General Games Chat" forum, which includes Retro Game Reviews, has been archived and is now read-only. You cannot post here or create a new thread or review on this forum.
So here is my suggestion.
In the period of time that a person is a newbie, this person is expected to LEARN how to write correctly, to make interesting topics, and not to bore us to death with console wars topics.
However. Once this person reaches the regular status, if they still continue to make useless topics and bad posts, I have nothing against attacking them. We should not expect newbies to learn so quickly, but we should not expect regulars to get away with rubbish topics.
I am, including notables in when I say regulars.
I would also like to suggest that anyone who does attack newbies instead of helping them from now on is banned from the forums. Yes, this goes for everyone too.
So, all in all:
Newbies shall be helped to reach the correct path of writing, by giving them constructive critism, and trying to help them become better writers.
Only when they reach regular status will they be expected to make good topics. THIS GOES FOR ALL REGULARS/NOTABLES WHO ARE ALREADY SO AS WELL.
If regulars/notables are found to be bullying newbies they shall be banned.
I hope that these rules can be enforced. If you believe these rules should be enforced, please state so below. If not, state, and give reasons.
I remeber Grix telling me to use lots of different paragraphs like this :) and well I copied using elipses off him as it looks good... see :D
> You were banned er-no? Why?
**no comment** but take encouragement because I then became notable!
I'm 16, by the way.
Now, i'm still in the

Shocktrooper, coinfidence is important, and I also got the same level as you and I am doing fine, what helps sooooo much in english is being original and creative, always go against the flow when writing and it works... believe me!
Anyway, I second what Grix said about it all being about writing experience.
There was a topic in the Nintendo forum where Ant and Grix had a Sony Vs Nintendo argument (I think it was during the Gamecube envieling).
A month or two later they posted in it again stating how childish they used to be. :-D
I'm 15, I loved writing when I was younger - but my dreams of becoming an author were 'put out' because I thought that I could get a level 6 in my test (year 6 I think) when I got a level 5 - I just didn't believe in myself anymore.
Now, i'm still in the top English class, but I doubt my writing - especially here on GAD. I just lost my confidence.

Grix, I will always try and help as I know that it is possible to change... ok, you can use my case as er-no if you like. Last year I was a 'paragraph poster', not posting a lot and it was all netspeak and rubbish, since then I have learnt from reading on here and others when to use and how to use the correct english. Also you can use my case to help any newbie think positively.
I went from arriving at the forums, then being banned to then being elected notable... its something many would have thought 'wasn't possible' but it was and this must encourage any newbie? Surely?
