FM was standing in a simple square room, with four braziers, one in each corner, all burning different colours. These weren’t normal flames however, as they did not give off coloured light, and the room remained smokeless, with a white light seeming to emanate from the walls and floor, with no shadows forming. In the middle of the room were two pedestals, about four feet apart. On top of them was a box. In it was FM’s father. FM turned as the guard stopped, bowing.
“Master.” Said Sniper, raising his head, looking into FM’s cold, hard eyes.
“You have your mission? You are ready to leave?”
“Yes Master.”
“Good.” FM turned back to look at the coffin, licking his fingers and rubbings his eyebrows again as he spoke. “This is just the first part my friend. I will have my revenge, I do not know when, but I will/”
“Yes Master.” There was an edge of concern in Snipers voice.
“What is wrong, my friend?”
“I do not know, Master. I think I am worrying with no reason.”
“Ah. You are concerned about the book, yes?” Sniper lowered his eyes. “Do not fear. I will find the book. MY magic grows with each passing month, soon I will have the power needed to find the book. Then, when it is mine, I will have unimaginable power!” FM felt a shiver run up his spine as he closed his eyes, imagining the power he would wield. He looked at Sniper. “You have your orders.”
“Yes Master Meister.”
“Go. Be swift, and do not fail me.” Sniper turned and left the room.
FM turned back to the coffin. As he walked around it, his fingers traced the inscription carved into the stone. He knew them all, word for word, but their feel comforted him. They were instructions on how to travel the underworld.

Wrath exploded through Meka’s mind. He screamed “No!” in a murderous rage as he leapt off the rock. With both hands he brought the sword up while still in mid-air. When he hit the ground he recoiled, swinging it around from behind in an arc. The sword whistled with its speed. The man had turned as Meka hit the ground. Seeing Meka coming, he brought his own sword up defensively, with lightning speed.
Meka watched as if in a dream as his sword come around. Every ounce of his strength went into trying to make the sword go truer, go faster. Be deadlier. The magic raged with his need. Meka looked from the mans sword, hard into the steel blue eyes. Mekas sword followed the track of his eyes, he heard himself still screaming. The man held his sword straight up, to deflect the blow.
Everything else around the man dissolved in Mekas vision. His anger, the magic, was unleashed like never before. No power on earth could deny him the mans blood.
He finished his arc, the sword coming round at eye height to the side of the mans head. It shattered through the mans sword, and exploded through his chainmail hood, bits of molten twisted metal flying off into the undergrowth. The sword continued its journey, making contact with the mans skull, and continuing through, out the other side of his head.
Bits of bone blood and brain flew up into the air as the early morning air was filled with a cloud of red mist. Steaks of blood covered Meka, dripped down his body, dribbled off his sword as he slowly lowered the point to the ground.
The mans body crumpled slowly to the ground, blood pumping out over the ground, mixing with the puddles already there. Meka could feel the cold mist help cool his body.
“Meka!” Meka awoke, a sheen of sweat over his whole body. “Meka, my brother, are you alright?” asked Grix.
“It was that dream.”
“Again?” Meka nodded in reply.
“Come on, get up, we have to meet the others soon.”
“Who?”
“You know, the others from the village. Dan2K1, Venombyte and Ant.”
“What about er-no, and YH?”
“They said they had something to do. They will meet us later.” Grix helped his brother to sit up.
“Ok, give me a few minutes." Grix nodded and left the room. Meka put his head in his hands as he thought about the dream.

“Master Meister?” FM looked around.
“Yes?”
“I have some bad news Lord, about Sniper.”
“He hasn’t dies again has he?”
“Yes Lord, he fell off his horse.”
“How did that kill him?”
“Into the moat.”
“He can swim.”
“Yes Lord, but as he tried to climb out, he must have pulled the lever, the one you ordered put in?”
“I vaguely remember.”
“That let the piranhas in.”
“Ah. I should have expected something like this. He has a whole bloody palace to have his accidents in. I put all that sponge about so he wouldn’t hurt himself, and yet he falls into the piranha moat. Amazing. Nevermind, he will be back by now. Tell him to continue with his task. Tell him to be more careful next time.”
Your Honour had gone mad. Who could blame him? He stood at the edge of the front of the ship, and the others crowded around him... it looked like he was going to jump off the ship.
"Look mate... all we have to do is get the Holy Grail, and then we can go home."
"No, fed up! Wanna go now!" Your Honour waved the oar threateningly around again.
"Give me the oar." FM said, acting as the negotiator...
"NO!" Your Honour swang the oar a bit more. "Me wanna go..." He said, sadly.
"Please mate, just give me the oar."
Your Honour's head sank, and he handed the oar to FM.
Sniper, who remained tied to the front of Dan2k1's boat breathed a sigh of relief.
----------
"A key?" Meka said, later, under the cover of darkness...
"That's what he said. He's always told us the truth in the past." Grix told Meka... "Yeah, he is a git, but at least he's helpful... our travelling old wise man, I suppose."
"And the islands... they mean something? Something else than just talking to God?"
Grix frowned. "For some reason, I've got a really bad feeling about them. Perhaps we should ask FM about them, he seems to know a lot about them."
---------------
About 1,500 years ago, Sniper mentioned to someone about this idea he had about floating islands so they could speak to God, and was promptly burnt at the stake...
But before that, those millions of years before the Earth was covered in giant tidal waves from the islands falling into the sea, someone came up with the idea for them.
Just a simple idea to reach high into the sky... but at that time lived another person. Dave.
Now Dave wasn't an outgoing person, he wasn't really the sort of person you could sit down and have a chat with... but one thing was always on his mind... death.
His life was utterly controlled by it. He spent all of his time trying to find a way to stop it, to be able to revive someone at will. This, however, has nothing to do with how Sniper continues to live time after time... and we'll probably never find out how he does it.
Anyway, Dave was so scared of death, that he began researching how he could contact the heavens himself... to be able to control life and death itself. Become a God, as it were.
Dave unfortunatly died in a freak blue tac accident, leaving his legacy a secret... well, relatively a secret.
------------
"So, what did he do with the islands?" Grix asked FM.
"There are twelve islands. Each placed at an exact position across the earth... But don't ask me where they all are, that was the first one I've ever seen with my own eyes."
Meka thought to himself... "Exact... what for?"
"...I'm not sure." FM lied. They didn't need to know.
"Grix, did you say that the Holy Grail had something to do with it?"
"My brain said something about it being a key for something, yes... but not a physical key. Whatever the hell that meant. It might not even be for the islands."
-------------
er-no flicked away the cigarette.
"So... what can we do about it?" He asked Pb.
Pb, Grix, Sniper, FM, Your Honour, Venombyte, Sheepy and er-no sat around a table in the Tardis, Snake stood over them, Mongoose Man stood in the corner... I don't think I need to tell you this is in the future, but I better had.
"Well, considering the Tardis isn't working..." They glared at Sniper... "We have little choice. We're going to have to finish what we started."
"Today, we jumped off a giant floating island to escape a horde of ferocious dwarfs living in a cottage. Who'd have thought the place-switching deivce would transport us to a corner of the island we hadn't explored, which just happened to be inhabited by dwarfs? It's a strange world we live in.
But still, our quest for the holy grail must go on, so I've been memorising the flight speed and maximum load bearance of European and African sparrows, just in case.
After the suicidal leap from the island, we landed in the sea, somehow without breaking all the bones in our bodies. Luckily, we were rescued by the SS mercury, a grand beauty of a vessel. It is a merchant ship, currently just south of the bermuda triangle, headed north."
-----
"Hey" said pb, "You're doing it again - Your diary is less accurate than darts player with no thumb!"
"It's rude to read other people's diarys, you know." VenomByte said.
"And reading it over my shoulder, too... that's just disgraceful!"
VenomByte looked away from pb, and continued writing
"Hey" said pb, "Are you going to tell them what hapened to YH shortly after we rescued Grix?"
"I'm not sure if I should....."
------
The tardis appeared with a crackle of electricity, and er-no stepped out.
He looked around. He was on top of a scyscraper, somewhere in New York city. Squinting into a building opposite, he saw Meka, being interrogated by a group of sinister looking men. He was bound to a chair, unable to move. The men were dressed in black suits, carrying guns.
er-no watched as the men grew angry. Meka wasn't telling them something, and they weren't happy about it. er-no wished he could hear what they were saying, but he oculd only watch. One of the men pointed the gun at meka, and Meka's body jerked back, his head slumped to one side.
er-no frowned. This wasn't supposed to happen. He had to stop it. He stepped back into the tardis, and dissapeared with a flash....
"*Caahhhcck*... where... where are we?"
"You sir are on the SS Mercury. You are now my captive, and you shall work as part of my crew."
Your Honour looked around. FM... Meka, Pb... Ant, Venombyte, Snake, Sheepy, Sniper, Mongoose Man... Tony...
"Sorry, who are you?"
"I'm the Captain of this ship!" The man boomed... "And you will do as you're told."
Your Honour tried to move... "We're in a lifeboat. This isn't a ship."
"SILENCE! This is my ship, and as my crew, you will work."
The man then turned away and looked into the sea, gibbering to himself.
"It's Dan2K1. Don't upset him... he's a bit mad."
"Where's the marg... can't find it." Dan said, watching the sea. "Bread is always a bit plain without it."
"Well, at least everyone is safe." Your Honour said...
"Ah, no, Grix is dead."
"What?"
"Well, not sure actually. We haven't found him. We're guessing he's wrote himself out for the moment."
"Any reasons for doing so?"
"Perhaps he's got something planned again. He does stuff like this a lot. Probably talking to his brain about some plot twist or something."
"Oh... ok, right."
"Where's that map gone... where is the grail?"
FM whipped out the map, and lay it on the wooden floor of the lifeboat.
------------
I think it's time that I explained what happened on the island.
Here's a recap.
--------
"Jump?" Grix asked, looking over the cliff again... yes, there was water below them... somewhere... perhaps a few thousand miles away... "You're crazy!"
At this point, something happened, that will be explained later. It's quite confusing at this point, and therefore will not be mentioned until totally necessary.
"Look, you've got to trust me. I know we'll survive." Meka thought back to his dream. It told him they would live.
"You're crazy." Grix repeated, looking over the cliff edge... all he could see was clouds. "How the hell could we be rescued if we just jump?"
--------
The thing that happenned was this:
"You're crazy!" Grix said, looking down over the cliffs again...
(Grix. Grix, can you hear me?)
Grix lowered his eyebrows...
"Look, you've got to trust me." Meka continued. "I know we'll survive."... Meka now walked nearer to the edge of the island.
(Grix, somethings wrong. I really need to speak to you.)
Grix nodded in recognition.
--------
Grix landed on the Sniper pile quite winded... but still awake. Firstly Grix made sure everyone was floating face up, and then swam off to a nearby island.
"Ok, what do you want?"
In an instant Grix collapsed to the floor again... he hadn't done it in years...
-------------
A man stood before Grix in a beach made from white sand, the sea making no noise as it crashes, the sunset lighting the entire land.
This man looked remarkably simular to Grix... but...
"What do you want then?"
"You're not going to like it." His brain said, as he sat in the sand. "You're not going to like it one bit."
"Hmmm?"
"It involves you, me, er-no, Pb, Meka, Ant, FM, the Overlord, a ton of germans, a tardis, about ten floating islands, a holy grail, and a few million copies of Street Fighter 2."
Grix frowned.
"There are only two things you need to know at the moment. The grail you seek isn't the holy grail... just something more important than life itself. A key."
"Key?"
"Not as such a physical key for a physical lock... damn, well, you'll see what I mean."
"Hang on, why can't you tell me more?"
"Your own mind can't cope with a huge influx at the moment. I'm just trying to put you on track."
Grix shook his head.
"The second thing is about those islands. They were trying to reach heaven for a reason. That's all I can say."
"Yeah, they just wanted to speak to God."
"No... there was something else. I can't say now."
"How do you know all this anyway?"
"I'm a watcher Grix, I pick up more than you think. I've been around ages, I'm only stuck in you because I find you amusing."
"Oh, ta." Grix wasn't sure if it was a compliment or not.
"Anyway, bye."
---------
Grix woke immedietly, and spotted a ship in the distance...
---------
"Look, is that Grix?"
FM cupped his hands over his eyes because he thought it made a difference.
"Yeah. I suppose we should go get him then..." FM mused...
And there it was. Out popped from the package that could easily fit under his arm, was the Tardis.
The Germans ran on towards him, as er-no grabbed the box again, and jumped into the Tardis. He shut the door, and a few seconds later, he had gone.
----------------
"This is no rock." Meka said, looking at the rather shiny surface of the ground...
"Then what is it? There was nothing near the island... just sea."
Meka tapped the ground, and a clank echoed around them.
"I think we landed on a plane."
"What? How on earth are we still on it then?"
"We're not."
"Ah."
They all began to fall again... straight through the clouds... they still couldn't even see the sea. Heh.
Then, FM had an idea.
"Everyone!" He shouted, "Try and grab Sniper!"
Ant dived through the air a bit, and grabbed Snipers arm.
He pushed him down a bit, and FM continued.
"Now, everyone, get behind Sniper! We could use him to cushion our fall!"
"What!" Pb shouted back... "That's not going to work! The physics are all wrong!"
"Who cares? It just provides us with an amusing Sniper death!"
"Ah!"
So they all lined up behind Sniper, who still struggled to get behind everyone else...
And they all hit the sea.
And blacked out.
He turned to see the searchlights begin playing back and forth across the compound, but he was far enough out for their light to show him. He looked down at the package he was carrying. Oh yes, it had been a very good night.
A lot of work had gone into tonight, but now it was worhtwhile. Many years had been spent slowly putting together the information he had needed. He couldn't find it all out in one go, oh no, that would araise suspicion. He had had to do it slowly, methodically, but it was all worth it now, oh yes.
He carried on across the field, the dark canopy of the forest reaching out to him, inviting him. Once inside there, he would be safe.
He looked behind him with a panic, he heard dogs barking. He started running. He didn't want to run, it was dark and he couldn't properly see where he was going. Long grass snagged his trousers as he ran faster, trying to put more ground between him and the following dogs. he heard the barking, could see the flashlights of the men as they followed the hounds.
He ran faster and faster, heart pounding, he was no longer concerned with not dropping the parcel, he wanted to get away. If he was caught....
He didn't want to think about getting caught. He looked up, the trees looked just as far away as they had been before. Panic set in, his breathing quickened as he tried to run faster. He looked up again, then the world spun as he tripped over, sprawling on the gound. The parcel went skidding off on the went grass.
The rain was harder now, turning some of the bare ground into slippery mud. He scrabbled up and searched for the parcel, eyes not seeing well in the gloom of the night. Rain drops dripped into his eyes, he had to brush them away. He saw it, diving across the ground, he reached for it, hearing the dogs getting closer and closer.
Wet fingers scrabbled for the package, he had his hand on it, but it slipped away on the wet grass. He thought his heart would burst out of his chest, frustrated he re-doubled his efforts. His panting breath clouded in front of his face in the cool night air. Rain continued drumming on the ground.
With a last ditched effort, he grabbed the package, his hand staying on it this time. Relief flooded through him, but was quickly dissolved by the sounds of the dogs even closer. Gripping the parcel even tighter, he clawed himself to his feet, determined to out run them.
Setting off again towards the trees, he heard the shouts as they saw him get up.
It was now or never.....
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Everyone else was still falling from the cloud.
They landed.
On a rock.
"We're on a rock." Said someone, after they had re-gained their breath.
"Yep." Said FM smugly, "Clouds have rocks in, didn't you know?" With a smile he wandered towards the aft of the rock. Or is it the stern? Or port? The bloody front, whcihever one that is.
"Oh." Said someone, but not the same someone as before.
"Damn."
"So, what do we do?!" FM asked, looking over the edge...
The happy dwarfs ran on, shouting "burn the witches", or something of simular context...
"Ok," Meka said... "We're going to jump."
"I don't know... I..." Meka took another look over. And then jumped.
"MEKA!" Pb shouted as he looked over the side... watching him fall through the clouds, and then vanishing altogether.
"Right, come on, we've got no choice. Jump."
And so they did...
The last thing that went through Grix's mind before he jumped was about the island... what the hell was the point in that? Would it make an appearance later?
Fm thought about all the things he had wanted to do but never really did them.
Ant thought about Episode One, and finally decided that perhaps it wasn't such a good film after all.
The only thing that Sniper thought before he jumped was "Oh no, not again". Perhaps if we knew how this connected to a small potted plant, we could understand a lot more about the universe itself.
Strangly, the last thing Your Honour was thinking about before he fell below the clouds was the rather strange markings on the bottom of the floating island.
It was a number. 5.
--------------------
"Guten tag." A man said, as he walked through the shadows, slightly nodding to the guards that walked past him... He pulled his hat further down on his face.
A light shined through a small window in a hut... no one was looking.
He pushed open the window, and jumped into the hut.
"Not so fast."
A gun was pulled out, and was placed next to the man's head, which had just come through a window.
A shot was fired, and the guard fell to the ground... the silenced pistol concealed under the mans jacket marking a hole through his leather jacket...
Ah well, it was messed up enough as it is. Perhaps he could make up a story to pull women with it later.
The man rolled the body under the desk in the hut, and began to search the drawers. A large key... old style.
He placed it in his jacket pocket, and began to search more drawers. Hmmm... nothing much, a few letters to the head of the Pact, but nothing much. He laughed as he read a reciept for a few thousand copies of a certain item...
The man left the hut through the door, and calmly walked away... he soon met more guards, which he nodded to and greeted.
A locked gate stood in front of him, and he opened it with the key he had found... he locked it again, and through the key into the night sky. Let's just hope he was right about this place.
There it was... warehouse number 16. If the rumours were true, this was it.
He climbed in through another handy window, and kept behind some boxes... until he realised he was the only person in the warehouse, and stood up.
There were a large amount of crates in it, one or two shelves packed with other boxes, all stacked as if they were never intended to be moved.
And then there was another crate. A much larger crate... that must be the one.
Gunfire.
The man rushed to the window, and looked outside... they must have found the dead man. No worries, he wasn't planning on escaping through that way.
A large voice boomed across the whole of the site... "YOU ARE TRAPPED, COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR. YOU ARE SURROUNDED, THERE IS NO ESCAPE."
Bullets riddeled the metal sheeting of the warehouse, lighing the floor. The man ran towards the large crate, and pryed it open...
And there it was.
The man took another quick look at the warehouse gate, which was about to be opened...
The guards ran through...
"Vher is se?" A man shouted... "Vher has se gone?"
The guards looked around... nothing. A load of crates all packed on top of eachother, and one large crate that stood out from the rest. It was opened, and empty.
"Hey guys!" Ant cried, "Plot re-cap please!!"
...He came to is a street, perfectly clean, and deserted.
He began to walk down the street.
A decapitated head rolled across the street from out of a building.
Meka approached with caution.
"We speak no lies, we'll tell you who dies" Said the decapitated head, before rolling into a crate.
Meka took a step back, in shock. Where was he?
He continued towards the building from which the head had rolled.
He pushed the door open with caution, and saw a large room, with a polished marble floor. The shape of a face began to form on the floor.
"The sky is ruddy - your fate is bloody" Said the floor. Meka recognised this from somewhere, but couldn't think where.
A starcase emerged from the wall.
Meka tried to step on the first step, but his foot went right through it, as if it was made from melted marshmallow.
He quickly pulled his foot back, pick goop fell from his foot, and formed a mouth on the floor.
"When you come to the end, you must dispose of a friend" It spoke, before disappearing.
Meka tried to take the first step again, and found it to be solid this time.
He begun to climb the steps.
After a few minutes he looked back.
Nothing.
All that was before him had disappeared.
And the nothing was catching him.
Meka began to run up the steps, but it was no good, the nothing sucked the steps from beneath him.
Just as he begun to fall something grabbed his arm.
It was the bannister.
The bannister pulled Meka to the top of the steps, then disappeared.
Meka looked around to see a giant bowl of fruit.
A banana begun to peel itself, and then spoke "Meka - at last we meet. Step forward, wipe your feet."
Meka stepped forward, wiping the strange purple substance from his feet, where had that come from?
"Your quest for the holy grail - it is doomed to fail"
Meka looked disappointed.
"Unless you follow my word - and take this, ther Jub Jub bird."
Meka tucked the Jub Jub bird into the hole that had appeared in his shoe.
"One amongst you, a liar is he - look into the glass I'll let you see."
Meka looked into the glass.
Sure enough one of his companions could be seen before him. Making a pact with the Germans.
Suddenly a bubbling noise could be heard.
Meka looked back to the banana. He looked rather perplexed, a little gassy, even. Then he exploded.
Little pieces of banana mush covered the area.
"Meka get up, quick!" Said YH, pulling Meka from the ground, and waking him from his strange dream....
"There." Said Brian, proudly. The group were a littl unnerved.
"I thought you said it was magic."
The cwarf looked a little upset.
"It is magic, look, the picute moves!"
The group looked at each other, and then at the dwarfs.
"Right. Ok. Fine. Yes. Magic. Isn't it lads?" Asked Meka.
"Uh-huh."
"Yep, magic alright."
"Well impressive."
"We're going."
"Bye."
The group swiftly ran out. The dwarfs stood around around looking bewildered.
"If they didn't think that was magic, then they must be witches! After them!"
And so followed a comedy chase scene with the little dwarfs somehow leeping up, but not quite catching, the group, until they came to the edge of the island.......
What the hell is going on?
