On America's CNN it was announced the Shiggy Miyamoto was involved in a car crash. His condition was listed as critical.
There is nothing solid yet but there was a huge discussion on the IGN boards people claiming they saw it on TV.

My sentiments go out to him.

Turbonutter asked if Miyamoto does much coding these days. Here's what I read at http://www.quarter tothree.com/ features/e3_2001 /miyamoto.shtml: (sorry I had to add spaces to the URL to make this post work)

"Miyamoto confessed that he doesn't do much actual design these days, preferring to take a supervisory role over various projects (at one point, he fumbled for a moment trying to remember the name of the Gamecube). When asked which designers he admire, he was quick to choose the people doing games under his supervision."

Hehe. He must do something, otherwise he wouldn't be recognised as a minor deity.

He also said he doesn't play games much nowadays. His main hobby is his garden.

Maybe he should give up making games. They can't be very good any more if he's not interested in them.

Maybe the reason he is taking such a hands-off approach is because he plans to stop making games soon? If that's the case he would be keen to train up the designers beneath him to use their own judgement so that they can make games without his guiding hand in the future which are worthy of the Nintendo logo. Just a thought.
