At first, when rumors started to fly about Xbox buying Nintendo I wasn’t very keen - because after all, it wouldn’t have been the same, would it?
But now, if either Microsoft or Sony bought Nintendo out, and had Nintendo making quality games without having to worry about console sales then everybody would be a winner.
Obviously this won’t happen in the current consoles, and I don't think it will happen in the next wave either, although I would like it to. But it’s bound to happen one day.
Just imagine; a Playstation with Zelda, Jak, Mario, Final Fantasy’s and GTA all on one console.
Or an Xbox with Halo, Ninja Gaiden mixed with some of Nintendo’s laid back classics. In fact - if Microsoft bought Nintendo maybe we could see some Nintendo & Rare calibrations. Donkey Kong Country 2 perhaps?
This is the way forward, I’m inclined to admit. Been stubborn never got anybody anywhere.

Why are they not suited to XBOX, AJ? The XBOX, most likely, would be able to handle any of Nintendos GC games, so that certainly can't be it?
If it's image, that's EXACTLY why MS would want Nintendo - to make sure that the XBOX appeals to all ages, genders etc., to widen the demographic. They're even making a personal trainer for the XBOX now, so, surely, buying Ninty would just be another step towards MS widening who it appeals to?
Surrendering in hardware development on its own would be completely stupid from Nintendo as well, and that's not my opinion, that's fact. They're still making a profit from it, so what the hell would be the point in halting development? Going into software production alone can badly damage a company's income, and Nintendo would be no different.
Nintendo's dominance in the handheld market for so many years has made them a very rich company, and while they've still got the funds to start new projects in new hardware development, I don't see why they shouldn't.
Good old Hedfix.
and it's still better than anything online on the Cube.
Necessary? Yes. Improvement? No.
Harddisk + custom soundtracks have also just sprung to mind as some of the little things I missed whilst playing games on my cube.
But then again I like slamming into people on racers and shooting things in a variety of different/brilliant/amazing ways online.
But as many of you know I play a very varied range of games offline, so it's quite sad when someone who likes a wide range of games feels they're better off without the Cube.
One engrossing game would've done it. But on the Xbox I find games of a style I never had on the '64, games like Morrowind, Halo, Rallisport Challenge, Deus Ex, Phantom Crash, Deathrow, Counter-Strike etc and I find these new and appealing at the moment.
However no doubt the sequels to these games on Xbox will seem like the previous generation's efforts and Nintendo's style will once again become appealing to me.
I need more depth to my multiplayer at the moment than something like Mario Kart can offer.
As it stands the icing's quite nice but without a foundation that appeals to me I'm happier with the Microsoft cake than the current Nintendo offering...
Hungry yet?
