Microsoft don't exactly need Nintendo to "do well", but it'd certainly boost their user base.
Nintendo would be an asset to the Xbox's success. Just like Bungie, just like Rare, just like every other developer that MGS owns.

Why would it be the end? They would have more money to make better games, if microsoft were to buy nintendo they would want to increase the company and make bigger profits, and the way Bill Gates has done it is lob money at it.
