I don't, or very rarely, buy a game as a result of reading a review... The games I have brought are a result of playing the games predecessor or having a 'thing' for the developer. I like certain styles of games, not necessarily different genres but different styles... I prefer the UT FPS's to the Deus Ex / Swat 3 FPS's, more action less thinking. I like to keep my thinking for RPG's and RTS's.
But back to the topic at hand. There will no doubt be some of you who feel that Graphics aren't nearly as important as Gameplay, others who feel the opposite and a select few who're right in the middle or on the fence, as it were. But doesn't it matter... I don't think either is more important. Okay so without Graphics Shenmue wouldn't be the same, but without Gameplay Conker's BFD wouldn't be Conker's BFD!
Games aren't about graphics or gameplay... sure they are attributes the game has but they aren't the purpose of the game. Who is to say that one game is better than another... there is no official company that rates games on how fun they are... they can't decide that... they can't decide which genre's are the best... I mean, I love Mario, at 17 years-old that might come as a shock to you but I don't care... he 'makes-a' me laugh. On the other hand FM hates Mario, but Mario isn't good or bad because of one persons opinion.... Ant thinks RPG's are "dull, dull and... dull!" But Grix might like them... So because Grix likes RPG's does that make them good?! No! Because Ant hates them does that make them bad?! No!
To get to the point, games aren't about Graphics or Gameplay... they're not about which genre they fall into and they're not about how long they last or who they're made by...
Games are about one thing and one thing only... just a 3 letter word...
FUN!
Having fun when you're playing a game is the most important thing ever... Make sure you make the right decision when buying a game or console... it's the fun that counts NOT OTHER PEOPLES opinions or preferances!
You wan't to buy a game? You buy it! Don't let others persuade or desuade you...!
Have fun... it's what gaming is ALL about!

What???
I thought we WERE talking about reading the review.
Anyone who looks at the score and buys the game without reading the review is asking for it. I always read reviews. I thought it goes without saying.
Could Pokemon

I didnt say Shenmue was better thn PS2
Ten demo discs = one hard drive.
Game will be installed onto the hard drive like PCs, as that's what it's for, but they won't take that much space.
> Yes. 4 DAYS!!!
Jesus. 4 days!!!! Just for a demo.

Could Pokemon have sold more simply because there are more people with GBC's? You cant say that Pokemon was good because it sold 10,000 copies and Shenmue was bad because it sold 2,000 for example.
Surely the best way to do it is percentages. If 90% of people who had a DC bought Shenmue, then surely it must be good. Or Sega did a good job of advertising.
If only 5% of people with ADC bought it, then that must show that it is not as popular. It may still be as good, but it may not appeal to the mass market.
This is why i always read a review of a game before i buy it. I don't go just by the score it gets. Magazine A may give a game 85% and say something like:
Amazing game! Just far too short, great fun while it lasts though!
Magazine B may give the game 40% and say:
What a waste of money. The average gamer could complete this in a day or so on hardest difficulty.
Now, if you'd just looked at the score in magazine A, you'd think it was a good game with a respectable score, if you'd just looked at the score in magazine B you would think it was rubbish.
Thats why i always read a review. They say in the review why a game got the score it did. The points they mark it down on may not worry you or affect you, in which case maybe it is worth spending that hard earnt on it.
The demos discs will continue as the main source of demos, they're great and you can always fit more than one demo on there...
Although loading times MIGHT be eliminated by storing games/demos on the HDD! The PS2's answer to no loading?! maybe...
4 days and 4 hours.
It is only a non experianced gamer that buys the game for
> it's graphics!
Don't tell me you're not even attracted by a games graphics if they're good. That would just be a lie.
