But now back on good terms with Ninty, can Square still pull it out of the bag. Crystal Chronicles was pretty good, but the repetative gameplay, poor battle system and annoying multiplayer setup left me slightly dissapointed.
FF 1-2 Dawn of Souls is schedlued for December, and there are rumours of a FF 7,8 and 9 package on the 'Cube, whilst Square have confirmed a handful of titles for the DS, including a Mana and Crystal Chronicles series.
But with games like Fable, Jade Empire and Paper Mario 2 coming out very soon, are Square still the kings of RPG and can they still produce the quality games they once did for the SNES and PSone?

Yeah Golden Sun on GC would be great but wouldn't it just turn in to another turn biased RPG? Not saying that this would be a bad thing but it could just become over looked like Skies was it was port; most people might think it is remake of the GBA version and could be rubbish.
But I would pick this up if they made it. But an even better idea would be to make a 3D DS version, as it would keep the same reputation of being the best portable RPG game around.
> Hey what if the controllers were able to charge up using solar energy?
Yeah-great idea!!! I think not I can only play games at night well the majority of the time at least and it would be great for my controller to die on me just before I could save and be suck without a way to charge it, and during winter you could only charge it for about 6 hours and the power of that sun light would be weak so it would last only 20mins if lucky...
It would work if you where in a constantly hot country but I wouldnt feel like playing consoles as much if it was hot I would like to play portables so I could get a tan.
However, to be able to draw energy from air particles would be a possibility...in theory...
So they have already announced the Poke Emerald for GBA as the add-on game for fire red/leaf green and ruby/sapphire, and now are you just guessing about the name of the DS Poke Diamond or is there already offical word of it's release and name? That will definetly be cool for touch screen battles as that means no more cursor selecting, which will be sorly missed if that's what they had in mind.
But I never trust rumours.
Pokemon Diamond and Pearl maybe a 3D rendition (or more likely, nearly 3D rendition, possible isometric) on the DS. Also it enables for Pokemon battles to be made via touch screen.
If touch screen isn't to be an option on the Revolution it means the DS will have something different the home consoles can't offer. The reason for mentioning this? Well the Revolution can recieve a massive RPG without conflicting with the touch screen, wireless online Diamond and Pearl.
In fact these 2 games could sell the DS to millions.
Imagine children playing the DS in the school yard, trading Pokemon with 30 nearby users, some they don't even know. Clubs would spring up where people can sit in a room, trade and battle with others in such an easy way via wi-fi.
Oh the possibilities.
I think the classic games idea is a pretty good one as most of the time older consoles unless they have been treated wll over the years won't work well enough for you to replay your old games, plus for gamers like me who never got to own a S/NES it's a great way for us to play the games that started the craze of great series of games we only know the later games of.
But I'd have to opt with yes, Square-Enix are the best at making RPG's.
Nintendo though if they can master a Gamecube edition of Golden Sun and Pokemon, may actually be able to topple them. Especially coupled with a bit of Paper Mario.
