On the SNES they were legendary, and made some cracking RPGs (Chrono Trigger, Evermore, Mana, FF), and then the bust-up, giving the PSone a handful of FF gems to boast.

But now back on good terms with Ninty, can Square still pull it out of the bag. Crystal Chronicles was pretty good, but the repetative gameplay, poor battle system and annoying multiplayer setup left me slightly dissapointed.

FF 1-2 Dawn of Souls is schedlued for December, and there are rumours of a FF 7,8 and 9 package on the 'Cube, whilst Square have confirmed a handful of titles for the DS, including a Mana and Crystal Chronicles series.

But with games like Fable, Jade Empire and Paper Mario 2 coming out very soon, are Square still the kings of RPG and can they still produce the quality games they once did for the SNES and PSone?

Yeah, i agree with that, but what else has camelot done to earn more respect of being great RPG producers?

Camelot's Golden Sun series was outstanding.

Square seem to be the Kings... there's no real competition out there for them at the moment and they dominate the field.

Who else really does decent RPGs? Capcom with the Breath of Fire series was "ok" but not a patch on FF...

That said I got Sword of Mana for the GBA and honestly it wasn't all that. Mediocre at best, but thankfully it was a cheap eBay purchase that's easy to sell on so not the end of the world.

I don't know much about it, but I would assume by the way they spoke about it that they are on about the european version, as they didn't say anything about it only being released in Japan only.

Is that Japanese 3 or Western FF3 (Jap FF6).

If it's no. 6, I think that was released on the Playstation.
It was great until the "world ended" and then it just lost it's way.

If any of you read this months email newsletter NDS is going to be getting a remake of FFIII which has never had a port on any other console since it's release.

Well seeing as Squaresoft only exist as Square-Enix now, are you saying that they were good but are now bad?
