I'm looking forward to it, because it's a Final Fantasy and I lvoe FF games. However, X and X-2 were a huge disappointment to me (Especially compared to VII and VIII). The story's have been weaker, the FMVs at the end (which I found were really rewarding in VII and VIII) were short and uninteresting, and the soundtracks (X was pretty good, but X-2 was disgusting!) have been poorer.
I was disappoiinted as well to hear Nobuo Uematsu won't be doing FFXII apart from 1 song, so we can expect not to hear the tunes that have become symbolic of FF (the Victory Fanfare for instace). The other thing that worries me is the absence of Random Battles. Real Time is good, but I come to associate Random Battles with Final Fantasy, and I loved them!
What do you think? Another scratch on the name of Final Fantasy? Or are we going to see a triumphant return to form for Sakaguchi and his team?
(also...release date anyone?)
Roll on FFXII!

Don't knock it until you've tried it.

Final Fantasy XII is innovation. Getting rid of the random battles is a HUGE change.
But they are trying to keep the single player game the focus. Final Fantasy is known for being a role-playing game with deep storylines. When the best thing you can offer in a game is multiplayer monster bashing, where is the deep involving storyline? How can you enjoy it properly without a horde of friends crammed into the room?
This is why CC failed for me. This is why I feel the Sony Final Fantasy games are the true definitive games. FFXII understands these points, and is going back to what made the classics like VII and VIII so successful.

Screw the series! Accept new ideas! It's a little thing named innovation.
Still didn't like it though! XD This one's on the pile with Spirits Within..... this is the pile that doesn't get mentioned when I'm arguing that FF is the best series of all time! lol
FF: CC had magic, similar themes, music etc to the other Final Fantasys. FF in itself changes everyime - so what, they made it 4 player, that doesn't make it 'not' Final Fantasy, considering Square made it and they decide.

I'm not saying it's bad, I'm saying it shouldn't have been released as a "Final Fantasy", because it doesn't keep with the systems etc of the series. For example, if "Pro Evoloution Soccer 6" was made into a cricket game, would you say it was a game that was well suited to that series?
Irrational.
> I only played single once as it bored me.
There ya go Rai...THAT'S why CC is widely considered a poor Final Fantasy. FF is a series BUILT on single player! FFVII didn't BORE people on single player. There's your reason.

It is fun in multiplayer, I only played single once as it bored me. But once my mate came round and we played 2 player all my doubts where gone. we completed it in a few days, but that was back in the time of much free time, unlike these days.
