Until Mike Myers & Kanye West do their bit in the studio.
Myers explaining what has happened, the destruction and lives lost.
Kanye West's turn comes up and he deviates from the autocue and delivers an unscripted outburst criticising Bush and the government for not doing anything in a system that "is set up to help the poor and the blacks as slowly as posisble" and pointing out that a third of the National Gaurd are in Iraq anyway, and that "they've given them permission to go down and shoot us"
Myers looking off-camera with a "Help" expression before attempting to steer it back on course, before West delivers his final statement. Cameras cut away to Chris Rock looking unprepared.
This segment was cut from the repeated broadcast by NBC who felt that "one persons comments shouldn't overshadow this tragedy"
Bear in mind that Kanye West was the biggest selling rap/RnB artist of last year and has a new album out to promote.
And he's risked that to deliver a genuinely angry, outraged statement that an awful lot of people are thinking but nobody is saying on the television.
Watch, enjoy and pass along as the largest selling recording Artist of 2004 alienates the Christian right-wing element of America by simply refusing to play along and speaking from his heart.
Outstanding and I'm buying his album purely to support somebody willing to risk **EDITED FOR THE BONUS OF BLANK** minor financial loss in the short term but possible gain when balanced against the projected earnings from previously unaware members of the public who wish to support somebody speaking out on National Television*** because they cant sit back and say nothing

Aha, yeah, I was only joking.

Which is something I completely agree with, I was merely using it as an example really, because they were the examples that Goaty used. But there are a lot of things which are tailored to black people which would easily be deemed racist if it was the other way around.

That's a fair enough viewpoint to take, but it's not one that I agree with.
Fair enough white people enslaved black people fo rhundreds of years, but people nowadays didn't do it, so is this how to make up for it? Of course not. And of course, it's not just black people then that should have all of these things either, because they're not the only group of people to have suffered at the hands of others.
Should all Jews have "perks" (I can't think of another word to describe it) in Egypt because they were slaves back before Roman times? Or how about every single European race have these "perks" in Italy because of Romans, or how about every Indian because they're ancestors were enslaved by the British Empire? Or every woman becasue woman had no rights (and still do in some middle-eastern countries)? Fair enough black people have suffered, but it's not the fault of people today, so they shouldn't have a different set of rules from everyone else.

I'm getting the sort of feeling that you're missing the point though. These white equivelants are unlikely to happen, because no-one really feels the need for them, but if there was a Ms White America, you can easily imagine the outrage caused (Mainly by fat, environmentalist, Green Peace lesbains) because it's "racist". That's all I'm trying to say.

I don't consider it a rant though, it's just your opinion, I probably started to rant a bit with the whole "What about this group" thing, but I'm just trying to use it as an example, woman were treated like dirt for a long time before black people were enslaved, and only gained rights a few decades before black people did, (Maybe there should be a "Music Of Female Origin" award, only because it's acronym would be "MOFO" though, why else?).

Indeed.

Icarus, you still hungup over the KFC thread? Lord child.. *hugs*
And, I do believe that was "Celestine." Get it straight.

Nah, I think it's just easier to sell scantily clad women than it is scantily clad men...

Well, okay, they don't necessarily 'prove' anything, but it's like a show that out of all the adversity that was faced by black people, something positive (arguably I guess... A beauty contest...) came from it. I think this is more evident with music though, as 'black' genres of music developed while there was still a lot of racism around.
And I think anyone who feels like a second class citizen because there's no MOWOs needs to take a reality check and look which race enslaved which for hundreds of years. And if people really wanted something like a MOWO, then I'd ask what genre exactly they'd encompass...? Classical? Rock 'n' Roll? Country? Pop? They're all predominantly 'white' genres, so how exactly you'd define music of white origin I don't know.
Oh, and if a white equivilant of these did exist, I wouldn't necessarily think of the events themselves as racist, however, I must admit I'd probably think the organisers were racist, because I just can't see anyone other than some white pride nazi actually being that bothered about setting them up...
Oh, and I go to Uni in London, hence cars are a no-no... Although I think the public transport on the Isle of Wight must be up there as one of the most expensive (well, buses anyway, the trains aren't too bad).
[EDIT] - apologies for hijacking the thread for a rant...

Aw.. *tears* I can't believe you're such an ass in real life either.
