> My favs are Guns and Roses and AC/DC
both fine choices sir!
they're a bit "timid" by todays metal standards, but both still quality bands.
in other news, the latest Soilwork album is top notch.

It did seem longer because everyone was standing around for the best part of an hour after Slipknot, who I actually thought were a lot better. They played all of the songs I wanted to hear and Corey Taylor is a master at getting the crowd involved. I enjoyed watching Slipknot more than anyone else that weekend. I really don't like the way that System don't talk to the crowd, they didn't say how happy they were to be there like almost every other band did and they didn't ask if we were having a good time. I'd imagine it's for their image more than anything, but it really doesn't do anything to help the gig. It takes some of the life out of it.
I thought Meshuggah were awesome at Download. They're an incredible band and I'm so glad I saw them. Lamb of God, In Flames, Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall all put on spectacular shows as well.
I was a bit disappointed that the secret band turned out to be Funeral For A Friend. I stood there and endured Lacuna Coil so I would get a decent spot just in case it was someone good. As soon as they came on I was out of there and off to see Slayer.
> It's alright, but absolutely not a patch on the Toxicity album.
Oh dude, no way! That's what I thought when I first started listning to Mesmerise but no, it's definitely a better album. The guitar, vocals, bass and drums all just fit together so awesomely. Everything about it is just fantastic. It's kinda like this generation's Justice For All but just far more simplified.
> It's seems to be weird just for the sake of being weird
Again, taht's what I thought at the very beginning but I don't think so anymore. And then again, that's what I thought a lot about the first 2 albums first time through as well, and I certainly don't think that anymore.
> BYOB is the only track I really like off it, all of the others are a bit average.
Hell no man. BYOB is absolutely amazing and the intense feeling you get when covering that is just insane. It's immense. I just get totally knackered just from the mental side of how intense it SEEMS to be. However, I certainly wouldn't say the rest are a bit average. Revenga is awesome. Cigarro is probably my favourite but that's probably more to do with the memories I have of starting the 'KOOOL!' chants at Download this year.

Yeah taht set kicked ass man. That's one of the gigs I've enjoyed most in my life. They technically played a better set at Brixton the week before since they played all the same songs plus a few more to boot but I was sitting down for that so I just kinda appreciated their musical talents rather than go crazy headbanging and screaming along and all. That's the second time I've had to tolerate that trash whilst waitng for Maiden to come out. First time was when they opened for them back in 2003.

Damn right.
My favs are Guns and Roses and AC/DC, but you'll all think of some stupid reason why im wrong, probably.

It's alright, but absolutely not a patch on the Toxicity album. It's seems to be weird just for the sake of being weird and I don't like that. BYOB is the only track I really like off it, all of the others are a bit average.
They are awesome live though. They played a fantastic and very long set at Download and I enjoyed every second of it.
> Maiden are still going strong with Dance of Death.
Dance of Death is the worst album in history. Except for St. Anger
Metallica are pretty awesome. But nowadays I gotta say they suck. St. Anger is a poor album by any measure, and their live show although musically excellent, I think is let down by Hetfield's completely scripted show from start to finish. Perhaps it's changed in the last two years, I don't know, but I saw them twice in 6 months in 2003 and he was still EXACTLY the same thing before evbery song. Kinda took a bit away from the actual gig in my opinion.
As for best band at the moment, it has to be System. Mesmerise is the best album I have heard in a very very long time. Maiden are still going strong with Dance of Death but Mesmerise, although short, is simply 37 minutes of absolute genius. I love it. And they are absolutely awesome live.
Maiden are the best show I've ever seen live. Then I find it hard to choose between the first time I saw Metallica and the third time I saw System. Either way, all 3 were amazing. Audioslave was fantastic too actually. When Chris Cornell came out to sing Black Hole Sun and I Am the Highway on his own. Man that ruled.
