Yeah I think we can have metal and heavy metal in the same thread really, before we end up breaking down genres into minute little offshoots.

I've already suggested two industrial bands as it is. :P

Are you the same person as who argued with me about Aerosmith?

I agree. The awesomeness of Kill 'em all/Ride the lightning/pasta of muppets/And justicse/black more than makes up for it, mind you.

I must admit that I enjoyed the pre-Black Album era the most. They sort of peaked with The Black Album, even though it's not my favourite, it is the most successful.

Load, Re-load and Garage Inc. were all very good albums as well, but St Anger was over-produced and far too aggressive.

it's amazing that for all the production on St Anger, the overall sound it horrid. i can only imagine that's what they were actually aiming for.. which is utterly baffling. I don't think it was overly aggressive though, although i see your point. they TRIED to be aggressive, but it didn't come across because they're metallica, worldwide success story metallica, probably never even stepped near a prison metallica and don't have any problems their money can't solve metallica, so it was kinda of hard to buy into these new balls they were trying to have. I just figured it was Rob Trujillo bringing a few of the elements of Suicidal Tendancies.. and then the other 3 finding ways to dilute them :(

The two albums with Ronnie James Dio on vocals were quality. Can't stand Ozzy.
