The new Download Of The Day page under joint control of whoever is in charge, for now thats myself(Flock) and obviously more importantly, Asher. I'm just updating it, he's in charge, because he rocks.

We want a group of people who can recommend one track a day which
hopefully people will listen to and pass judgement on. The idea is
just to introduce people to new music.

No Newbies

NOTE FROM ASHER - IMPORTANT
If i'm going to be taking control of this for a little while, I expect everyone to take responsibility for their songs and post up a yousendit link or something similar up on the day of their song. I don't have the capabilities to download everything super-quickly like Flock does and put it up, so it's up to you. If you want you're song to get a fair few listeners it's advised that you do this, but if you don't want to then that's fine.
Preferably at least a day in advance so I have time to edit the post each day.

The Libertines - The Good Old Days
Love Up The Bracket, love this song, especially the way the lazy intro leads into the violent thrashy chorus.

Better than i expected, the Clash influence is clear and present and i'll be listening again.

The three albums they released are all markedly different.

And superb.

On first listen alone:

Yeah it's pretty good.

They're the kind of band I can predict will either have a lovely sound and good variation who I will like loads. Or terribly samey and boring.

I hope it's the first. Loads of bands have potential, but don't make the jump. If I was being as positive as I could be, the intro and bass reminds me of the Chilis and the rest is Radiohead meets South.

Now that's being really positive. I shall rate it tomorrow after more listens...

Yuh.

Plus anyone who likes this should try:

I Fought An Angel - The Delgados

Not sure about the last two words of the song, but I think it's that...

Thursday 7th - Opeth - To Bid You Farewell (Bob The Moose)
Have to say, loved the acoustic part. Even though it did go on for a while, it was really good. Didn't like the electric part quite as much, just isn't quite as powerful in my opinion. Then near the end it goes into a Power Rangers kinda thing. Hmmm. On a whole good though, very good, and the very end is great, too.

Friday 8th - SuperSystem - Born Into The World - (Your Honour)
Urgh, sorry, really dislike this. Not really much else to say.

Because I'm in an Oasis kinda mood, I decided to rip all the old B-sides off the singles and have a listen, and even though the best ones are already on The Masterplan, the others are still fantastic.

My recommendation is Fade Away by Oasis.
