Go and grab yourself a guitar of any description and play the intro to All My Life by the FooFighters. Basically its just a G power chord but if you're rubbish at playing the guitar just play a G note. Listen to the song for the rhythm if you dont know it.

Now for the hard part.

Try singing along to it. Doesnt sound hard but it is. Singing and playing it at the same time is nearly impossible. It makes Dave Grohl even more of a ledgend IMO.

Ahaha yeah. That's pure gold.

"YOU'VE UNLEASHED THE FURY"

I remember him having a massive screaming fit about somebody throwing water on him on a plane after hearing him being rude about homosexuals.

"Choo unleashed da fokkin' fury"

Ah, here we go. Worth listening to the MP3 too

Steve Vai has some excellent songs. They're not all mindless fretw**king.
Yngwie on the other hand...

Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai.

Is there anything more pointless than a guitar virtuoso?

Give them a break, they were quite young when they came up with it.

I've never considered it to be one of their biggest. I'd probably say "Master Of Puppets" was, or maybe "Enter Sandman".

there's probably someone here who can play it.
It looks pretty difficult, though the fastest parts are in reasonably shaped positions, so it's just a matter of perfecting your timing and getting the hammer-ons/pull-offs correct. The bit where he descends down the high E string probably isn't as hard as it looks, because Hammet's solos aren't meticulously structured in that he plays the same thing every time. He probably just tremelo picks to the tempo of the song while fretting the shape and sliding down each time rather than specifically aiming for particular notes.

The beginning is also typical Hammet by the way :' }

I can play the solo to Master of Puppets!!
please be impressed, I crave acceptance

Just had a listen, it's pretty bog-standard pentatonic, with some crunchy powerchords and a weak riff. This was their biggest song, right?

May I take this opportunity to say: Paul Gilbert - "Technical Difficulties"
