Go and grab yourself a guitar of any description and play the intro to All My Life by the FooFighters. Basically its just a G power chord but if you're rubbish at playing the guitar just play a G note. Listen to the song for the rhythm if you dont know it.

Now for the hard part.

Try singing along to it. Doesnt sound hard but it is. Singing and playing it at the same time is nearly impossible. It makes Dave Grohl even more of a ledgend IMO.

The trick with singing while playing is simply not to try to run before you can walk. It took me about 3 months of playing guitar before I could keep a rhythm without thinking about it and so could sing simultaneously. My voice is appalling but it's a nice skill to have.

Hurrahs, well, as long as it's not some sort of gayby crap album.

Yeah, well, they've only played live a dozen times or so in the past 18 months.

it's tremelo picking. His technique is unnecesarily exaggerated and aggressive. In fact, if you watch him tremelo pick in any song you'll see that he goes way overboard on the amount of right arm movement because of his violent style.

Generally yes, but he still does it fairly frequently live, though he doesn't seem to play much guitar live anymore...

Cheers Pandae. Pretty interesting.

But I agree with you. The way they describe it all generally covers most music. Strange. It's still not perfectly clear, but I noticed no band I like is one of their examples, so maybe that's why I don't know what it is.
