:D
I have about a limited wannabe's knowledge of guitars, like I know what guitar I've got and that it's a strat and stuff but; what the hell are these things/what do they do:
Pick-up
Redresss the frets
Grub screws
Tone Pot
Also, anyone know any places on the web that tell you how to play?
Ican struggle my way through tabs but that's about it. No money can be expended by the way.
:)

That long bit.
You press it down and it moves the bridge up a bit and the string tension decreases so you end up with a lower note. Took me ages to work that out when I first got a gutiar.
I think.
I don't have one.
You see quite a lot of guitars with them though.

What the hell is a tremolo arm? What does it look like? Which part of the bridge does it come out of.

I did consider the irony before I put it there, but I feel there's a little more with calling myself the next Slash, than not liking Les Pauls.
:D
They're quite simple.
It's those damn "easy" power chords I struggle with, because my pinky doesn't like to hold down any notes.
ARGH.
I hurt my pinky last night trying pinky strengthening exercises (which i made up myself).
:-(
I want a Les Paul.
The custom black one. That r0><0rz.
you CAN, as you say, get pedals to do it if you own a les paul or other fixed bridge guitar, but on strats and superstrats, the bridge is also fittied with a tremelo arm, so you don't need the pedal.
oh, i know it's backtracking a little, but how can you denounce Les Pauls and have "the next slash" as a tagline?? that's just plain wrong! :)
EDIT: What do they do anyway?
the ones on regular strats aren't meant to go nuts with though, just to add a little bit of dynamic to the sound. i on the other hand like to do stupid pitch changing things with pinched harmonics... listen to a zakk wylde track, that's how i play.. i totally ripped his style off :D
I don't have one I don't think.
:'(
.. you're still wrong though, Les Pauls rule.
although i'm dipping my toes int he consumer paddling pool once more on a quest for a superstrat with a DECENT locking trem on it. maybe a 2nd hand JEM or similar, i'm getting into funky trem tricks...
