OMG it's 4.10am and my animation is still rendering :( i still have to put all my mocies together and add music. Then at 8.20am get up and walk in to uni for a 4 hour lecture in which a very tired me will present my animation.

It's all been going wrong here. My 'copy' of premiere has funked up it won't let me use the mpeg 4 codec that i have to use. Now using virtual dub to put them together but this means no fading transitions :( . One of my renders failed twice which means i have to leave it out.

My presentation is a critical review of my project so far. (so far it's looking shoddy) They are going to rip me apart :( i mean yeah the smoke and the lighting rocks but cause of teh transitions i'm screwed. I was on a first for the project so far now this is going to bring me down to like a 2.1 then i just gotta hope the final version gets me another first.

My brain hurts. I have learnt that 3d animation is too unstable to leave to the night before. Theres a lesson there kidds.

If i get the time tomorrow i will post a link to my animation. It's only 30 seconds and it's for a bbc-i channel Spark. Which i happen to do student stuff for.

Well off to finish it all. Had a rant feel abit better head hurts though.

I just had a very important lesson in backing-up my main computer (my rendering computer that has all my work on) has just died. Unfortunatlly some filthy virus has wiped out my ablitity to get in to windows and there for get to my files. I have formatted :( lost alot of stuff and about 20 gig of downloads. Whats worse i have lost max 7 so i will have to redownload.

Luckly with all my updating to my website i had moved most of my 3daniamtion work on to this laptop so i could do that while the other computer renders. I have lost everything i did in the last week but i am sure i can get it all sorted in the next few days.

:(

there's no plans to do any more to it right now, as the brief only required a short character animation, no narrative content. but obviously i've kept all my files/textures/rigs/etc so if i want to use the guy again further along the line then i can.

it was a good learning curve and a FINE lesson in why making characters skinny is a VERY good idea, elbow and knee pinching is much less of a problem with thin people :)

be sure to let us know when your new work is ready for download dude!

Just had a look at it, pretty good the animation is very good on the character he moves very much like a muscle bound guy :D. are you planning on more to the animation?

my website only holds 20 meg so i will probably have to remove my old animation and replace it wil the new one. there isn't a great deal of change just 2 scenes are going and are being replaced with better angles and some more effects.

it turned out pretty well for a first go at character animation..
sadly i don't have enough webspace to upload it (NTL claims you get 55meg, but it's not letting me upload any more stuff and i'm WAY under the limit.. dagnabbit)

if i can get get it uploaded, i'll post it.. in the meantime, here's a still from it: http://homepage.ntlworld.com/paul.s.kennedy/walkout_frame0107.jpg

modelling is NOT my strongpoint i should mention :)

EDIT: apparantly it's letting me upload it today... CRAZY!!

Very_Metal how did your wrestler animation turn out? You progressed much further with it? any chance of a viewing?

My finished animation should be finished at the end of next week maybe eariler and i will place this on my site replacing the old version. Again i would like anyones comments about improvements. But i will only have one more week before the final hand in, so i will be unable to make huge changes.

Over january i will be creating my first character and animating it for my disertation. Will post pictures and a update on my website as i progress.

yeah i am currently trying out the trial version and seriously thinking about paying the £45 for the student version now.

It's quite easy to use i just need the manual now as the tutorials are aimed at max 5 and a few at 6 and max 7 doesn't have a feature that some of them need.

i'm trying to do water pouring down on to a glass step like structure and have the camera go around and under it seeing the flow from all directions.

I was looking at a load of plug-ins and came across a great liquid one called Realflow3 it looks brilliant. $90/£45 educational version with no time limit. I know it's only a plug-in but i am thinking about purchasing it cause it's so damn pretty.

I need to get hold of 'blast code' for maya but it isn't cheap and no student versions :( greedy companies. Somewhere in there offices a guy should be thinking 'oh wait if we make this cheaper Chippxero will be able to buy it and that will make him happy' but theres something wrong in society and thats not happening. :( Makes me sad.

To see real flow http://www.nextlimit.com/realflow/index.html then go gallery and videos.
