OMG it's 4.10am and my animation is still rendering :( i still have to put all my mocies together and add music. Then at 8.20am get up and walk in to uni for a 4 hour lecture in which a very tired me will present my animation.

It's all been going wrong here. My 'copy' of premiere has funked up it won't let me use the mpeg 4 codec that i have to use. Now using virtual dub to put them together but this means no fading transitions :( . One of my renders failed twice which means i have to leave it out.

My presentation is a critical review of my project so far. (so far it's looking shoddy) They are going to rip me apart :( i mean yeah the smoke and the lighting rocks but cause of teh transitions i'm screwed. I was on a first for the project so far now this is going to bring me down to like a 2.1 then i just gotta hope the final version gets me another first.

My brain hurts. I have learnt that 3d animation is too unstable to leave to the night before. Theres a lesson there kidds.

If i get the time tomorrow i will post a link to my animation. It's only 30 seconds and it's for a bbc-i channel Spark. Which i happen to do student stuff for.

Well off to finish it all. Had a rant feel abit better head hurts though.

i've got a corker for my final year project.
as far as i know it's self elected so i'm gonna make a bunch of basic models, probably just spheres with limbs and shoes, but good faces (imagine Mike from Monsters Inc but with 2 eyes) and make a band out of them.

then they're gonna play the heaviest song i can find :D
metal peas are the way forward. fact.

it's basically so i can get stuck into some decent lip syncing :)

mmmm.. cookie :)

i'm shifting focus for a little while and forcing myself to do more CSS work for a site i'm helping a mate build. i wanna learn it as it's so versatile, so i figure just jumping in the deep end is the way to go :)

balls.
my character animation was a mere 6 points off of a first, but my crappy design folder bundled me down to a disappointing 56% (2.2)

i'm starting my year 3 folders soon i think, i'm not getting stung like that again.

sounds like you've stumbled onto a bit of a speciality there mate.
plus i can't think there'd be THAT many people looking to enter that field which can only help your chances of employment.

on the other hand, i can see me passing and then having a bit of a nightmare trying to get work :S

I know what you mean, I should have said drawn style insted of cell shading, i am going to work on cell shading like the ink and paint one but it will probably have rougher lines and not so sharp at the edges.

For the molecular video that i was working on, my tutor has suggested that i should look in to working in another area as he thinks i should get a first for the project and the write up for the molecular video would limit my grade slightly. I am looking at maybe doing some advertising using 3d or to produce serveral photorealistic (or as close as i can get) scenes for comparasion with photos of the same area.

looking good!!!
i'd say it's probably a little closer to being a water-colour effect taxture than cell shaded, but it's still pretty sweet dude.

A pic is up on the main page of my site of my cell shading, it's just a first example of what i want to achive. I am going for more of drawn look, the material for it took about an hour to work out to the point it's at.

I used falloff on the diffuse map and just edited the properties abit.

EDIT: this material is for still images only it won't work in animation the way that i have created it, and it has to be adjusted for different objects :( i am further from what i wanted than i thought. But still just needs work doing to it.
