OMG it's 4.10am and my animation is still rendering :( i still have to put all my mocies together and add music. Then at 8.20am get up and walk in to uni for a 4 hour lecture in which a very tired me will present my animation.

It's all been going wrong here. My 'copy' of premiere has funked up it won't let me use the mpeg 4 codec that i have to use. Now using virtual dub to put them together but this means no fading transitions :( . One of my renders failed twice which means i have to leave it out.

My presentation is a critical review of my project so far. (so far it's looking shoddy) They are going to rip me apart :( i mean yeah the smoke and the lighting rocks but cause of teh transitions i'm screwed. I was on a first for the project so far now this is going to bring me down to like a 2.1 then i just gotta hope the final version gets me another first.

My brain hurts. I have learnt that 3d animation is too unstable to leave to the night before. Theres a lesson there kidds.

If i get the time tomorrow i will post a link to my animation. It's only 30 seconds and it's for a bbc-i channel Spark. Which i happen to do student stuff for.

Well off to finish it all. Had a rant feel abit better head hurts though.

dissertation. bah!!! :)

well, i have to write an essay as well, but the lecturer has only attended 2 sessions so far, so they're looking for new staff. i'm hoping they fail and we don't have to do it :D

as far as the animation goes, i'm putting together the scenes for my new project, whch now consists of a washing bmachine stealing washing from my wrestler character. it's going very well (hence no time to post here) and i aim to have all the scenes done by the end of next week, then probbaly a week to render them out, then 2 weeks refining time.
will post a link as soon as i have anything to show :D

Well i figure it's time for an update as to what i am doing.

My dissertation project was going quite well and then one late night i suddenly realised that i didn't really have an angle to the write up, i had pretty much settled on just talking about 3D animation in general so that i could hand in my project.

But on thinking about this alot i have scrapped my project side of the dissertaion and i will now just write a paper on 3D Animation in depth, the main reason for this is that 80% of the grade is on the write up and if i fluff that up by not taking the right direction i will get a crummy grade which would effect my total grade alot.

My dissertation will now be 'Cultural differences and the effect on 3d animation feature films' or something like that. Basically i am going to write about the different styles of the east and west and how each does well and why.

Example about how alot of the western 3d feature films are aimed more towards children, where alot of the bigger eastern films are aimed at a older generation.

If you can think up a better title or just have a suggestion for a topic inside the dissertation please post.

This thread almost fell off the forum :O

my amazing 2 week lead has magically transformed into a 3 week lag behind.

My idea for the Appliance nightclub was fine in theory. however, no matter how much tinkering i did with the dialogue, it just wasn't working, certainly wasn't as funny as i'd hoped. it kinda dragged on, which is when you know you've got a failure on your hands, so i scrapped it and started again.

i'm using all my old characters for this project to save the time i've lost, i'm simply adding the washing machine and having him attempt to steal some washing.

it's basically an excuse to use "gimme back my sock ya goat bast*rd" quote from Family Guy :)

Firstly i did ask for this thread to be moved to the creative design forum but the staffies must be too busy.

---------------------------------

Thought it was about time for an update, i have 3 weeks till my dissertation is due in and so i have judged this as the required time for creating my animation.

The plan:

4 days modelling
6 days animating
? days rendering

This plan took me the last 5 months to come up with so i believe it is flawless all possiblities have been worked out and there is no way i can fail.

---------------------------------

After i have finished dissertaion animation i will begin work on another unit in which i need to model a large building and the interior and then follow that up with a 1 minute animation fly-through of the building.

This project has all of april and some of may to be completed so i should get it finished in good time.

How are your projects going Very_Metal?
