"Could Hitler and the Wehrmacht won World War 2??"

I have read millions and millions of World War 2 books, and wanted to address the Topic could Germany have beaten us. After careful reading and consideration, it would have been possible for Germany to defeat Europe, more so in the early stages of WW2. Britian was able to be attacked from several angles... From Norway, France, Belgium & Holland, which would place Wehrmacht troops in numerous possible places across the North-East, East, South-East and South Coast. I believe that if the Germans launched a simutantious attack from opposite ends of the UK (one from Norway, & One from France) there would be not enough of the RAF to fend off an attack, and therefore Germany could have secured a beachead on British soil... and seeing that it was at an early stage of the War, Britain would not have had sufficient troops, and weaponary to repel it, seeing after a hulimating defeat for us at Dunkirk.

Even towards the end of World War 2, it came very very close for Germany winning the war. The Germans were developing a new edition to the V2 rocket, enivatibly the Atomic Bomb. But was destroyed by the RAF, but was not known that until the end of the War that Hitler was developing an atomic weapon and a hell of alot closer of launching the Atomic Bomb, than we were. If he was successful, the first target would have either been New York or a Soviet City which would have sent the Americans and Soviets to withdraw, and Hitler to take over Britain.

Any comments on this thoughts. Hitler really wanted to make peace with Britain, and us to Join the NAZI's due to the fact that Britain being an Island, Hitler admired Britian as we were the clostest thing to a European white aryan race, because not to many people immigrated to Britain?

Yeah, but remember, US wanted to stay out of the war. When pearl harbour happened, it would have been Hypricatical for them to not help on the invasion of Germany, seeing that there was a large commitment of British troops in Burma fighting Japan (my grandad told me many stories about Burma), so they had to destroy evil dictators, which included the Japanese Emperor, and European Dictators Mussolini and Hitler.

The Americans though did take their time to join in the war, and took their time to complete their objectives on D-Day, on Utah, Omaha, St. Marie-Eglise and St. Marie-Du-Mount. Seeing that British, French Free Forces and Canadian Forces, moved quickly across the Sword, Gold and Juno beaches, and by the end of D-Day, had moved very close to Caen. Plus the 6th Airborne and 1st Airborne, were the first troops landed in on D-Day completed all their objectives within the first 15 mins, it then was just counter-attacks being repelled. Americans took a little more time. Some were still being completed at D-Day +1

I don't understand entirely why America arranged D-Day after Pearl Harbor; Japan were allies to Germany (part of the "Axis" if I recall correctly), but surely the US would have just gone to war with just Japan?

laters mate. Hedfix, discussing Pre-WW2 and WW2 is a very intresting topic to do, well i find, as lots of points can be raised, from different perspectives.

Like another topic that I raised during one of my History Degree seminars was, Could WW2 been won without American Intervention, doing my dissertation on this.

Like most Monarchy leaders of that time, He was trying to follow in the Footsteps of his Father, and I think failed bloody miserably. But there is this whole conspiarcy about Rasputin being one of the Fronts to the Revolution... betraying the Tsar family, hence was one of the reasons he was killed. If you have time watch a movie called "Battleship Potkipm", this has a good insite into the Russian Revolution.

Well going back to WW1 and Russian involvment. It reminds me of a Blackadder speech.

Comical aint it. Seems that the general population and status quo are always getting the crap end of the stick during war time, being used as cannon fodder
