I have read millions and millions of World War 2 books, and wanted to address the Topic could Germany have beaten us. After careful reading and consideration, it would have been possible for Germany to defeat Europe, more so in the early stages of WW2. Britian was able to be attacked from several angles... From Norway, France, Belgium & Holland, which would place Wehrmacht troops in numerous possible places across the North-East, East, South-East and South Coast. I believe that if the Germans launched a simutantious attack from opposite ends of the UK (one from Norway, & One from France) there would be not enough of the RAF to fend off an attack, and therefore Germany could have secured a beachead on British soil... and seeing that it was at an early stage of the War, Britain would not have had sufficient troops, and weaponary to repel it, seeing after a hulimating defeat for us at Dunkirk.

Even towards the end of World War 2, it came very very close for Germany winning the war. The Germans were developing a new edition to the V2 rocket, enivatibly the Atomic Bomb. But was destroyed by the RAF, but was not known that until the end of the War that Hitler was developing an atomic weapon and a hell of alot closer of launching the Atomic Bomb, than we were. If he was successful, the first target would have either been New York or a Soviet City which would have sent the Americans and Soviets to withdraw, and Hitler to take over Britain.

Any comments on this thoughts. Hitler really wanted to make peace with Britain, and us to Join the NAZI's due to the fact that Britain being an Island, Hitler admired Britian as we were the clostest thing to a European white aryan race, because not to many people immigrated to Britain?

the strategy about unarmed people running at the enemy, was that these battles was conducted in waves. could be 9 or could be 25 waves of troops, they were all expendiable. Normally the waves suffered 99.9% casualties, but Unarmed people would run at the enemy so that the Germans would run out of Ammo, shooting at Russians, so the Latter waves which were a bit better equipt, would take over the German strong points.. True defination to Cannon Fodder......

But at the end of the war, the Red Army, had more than enough weapons to fully supply their troops, think i mention ealier, for every 1 Russian T-10 tank that was destroyed, 11 had rolled off the production line; this pretty much the same as troops, for every 1 killed by Germans there was like 20 to take over, and similar with their Masuer Rifles and PPSh Machine Pistols.

true, they did murder their own troops. They also forced them to run towards the enemy un-armed - there weren't enough rifles to go around. If the guy who had the rifle got shot, someone without one would pick it up. Quite horrific when you think about it.

well there was no choice for the Red Army, it was either Win battles and get killed at the expense of the Germans or Lose battles retreat and get killed by their own Red Army, seing that retreating was considered as dissertertion and cowardice, and there was no room for that in the red army..... Its quite suprising how people perform under certain death, yet if they fight properly they might survive.

You're not wrong, I remember learning about how German troops and armour pushed russia all the way back to moscow during winter - it looked like the end for them. Then about a month later, the USSR opened the gates and rolled out hundreds of tanks, crushing the germans and pushing them all the way back to Germany. You've gotta respect their 'take no crap' attitude.

At the end of the war in Europe, the Red Army sent 1million Troops to the Pacific to aid the American and British fight over there.

The USSR could have beaten Germany all by itself. Maybe not Japan as well, but they would have damn well tried/been forced to.

I enjoyed Ray Mears' 'The Real Heroes of Telemark', about the norwegian commandos blowing up the heavy water plant and also that ferry, in order to stop hitlers atomic bomb program.

The Americans had to get involved though, dropping 800 bombs over the area, only about 4 hit the factory, the heavy water containers were intact and 22 civilians died. Yet a handful of norwegians outsmarted 10,000 German troops.

God bless America, if it wasn't for them, we'd all be speaking German.
