For starters, let me say i hate this new way to name the leagues. Calling them Division 1, 2 and 3 made alot more sense. None the less...

Its nearly that time again! The season for us lot kicks off next weekend, after, for me, what seemed like a long summer, and i for one cant wait for the season to start.

As always, i have my season ticket and im pretty confident of what The Owls can achieve this season, im just hoping this season can be the one where the rot stops, and we gain promotion. We have a whole new team almost. We released 15 players last season, and signed 11 this, including ex Southampton captain Chrissy Marsden, and then a squad of good young players who all look the part to go with him

We have 2 friendlies left against the Bolton and Everton, and in our previous friendlies we have looked good.

I know there are a number of you lot who support teams in the lower leagues, so lets not let this forum be over run by Premiership talk and such. After all, our clubs are just as important as the bigger clubs.

So what are your hopes and fears for the new season? Who you looking forward to playing the most?

Up the Owls!!

Owls are away to Torquay tomorrow. Was considering going, but the drive down put me off, so decided not to.

I really think we should be looking to win tomorrow. Dont want to put my foot in it before we play them, but i fear for Torquay's season, and dont see them doing too well (Sorry Helen), and so fully expect a win from us. Saying that, i wont be too disheartened if we only got a point, but a loss down there is not even remotely acceptable.

Some other big games tomorrow, Wolves vs Leeds being one. Im hoping Leeds get something, but i think it will be tough for them, also think West Ham vs Wigan is a pretty big game, even if it is early season. Both i feel are Play off contenders.

Tomorrow sees the start of the Premiership, which is great. Also means the forum will be flowing in with Prem talk...so lets not see our League football haven sent down the page packing.

UP THE OWLS!!

Well City drew 2 - 2 with Peterbrough and I'm not too happy.

We were playing well untill we score after about 15 minutes then Peterbrough just took advantage and Dean Windass (goal scorer) being stretchered with a twisted ankle shortly after did not help. They then scored from a corner with the guy being unmarked.

Most of the second half they were relying on Leg's long throw (supposedly the longest throw in football) and they got their second goal from one of them, where it went past every City body and the guy just had to tap it in. We started playing better in the last quarter of an hour and got a goal from a crap volley which was going wide, but David Wetherall managed to get a head on it which sent it in. He then got booked for celebrating.

Last minute and we got a penalty, our get out of jail free card, and what do we go and do, miss it. Nice way for new boy Michael Symes to make a name for him self, but in the last minute you don't place it, you blast it down the middle. Some one else wanted to take it, but he said "No, I'll take it". Idiot. Also we should have had another penalty about a minute later but the ref wasn't gonna give another one, but that was more of a penalty than the first. I think Windass our first penalty taker would have done that, and probably any other guy on the pitch.

The ref was one of the worst I have seen for a while. We were both tackling the same and we got about 6 yellow cards and hardly any free kicks and they got 1 yellow card and loads of free kicks. When a 'fight' (pushing and shoving) broke out nearer the end, two of our guys got booked, one for pushing some one away from the fight to stop, the other because he got pushed over and that is how it started, but none of their guys got booked. Our guys shouldn't have been booked and two of theirs should have.

Overall we played pretty poor in the middle of the game, but good at the start and end. I think part of thios was because Windass got stretchered off. But I wouldn't have been bothered if we didn't get too much in the match if we scored the penalty. I wouldn't have cared about playing crap and winning, 'cause that it what teams were doing last season against us.

I don't like us scoring first really because we defend a 1 - 0 lead instead of going out to get another, that is why we let in more and why we lost to Hartlepool 2 - 1, but that was also by crap ref decision for a penalty. When other teams go ahead by one we seem to go out with more heart. Although saying that we lost some thing like 11 out of out 14 home games by one goal last season (normally 2 - 1 or 1 - 0).

At least we have a point on the board after two games which is better than none.

Wooohooo!

Just got back in from getting back from Blackpool. Spent the day there with some mates, which was pretty good, even though Blackpool aint the nicest place to visit, and then the score of the game tonight was great.

Owls won Blackpool 2-1. We played brilliantly, much better than last saturday. Scored some good goals, even though the ref did his best to spoil the game and punish us with silly decisions needlessly.

Still, we won!

Night all!

2-0 to the Gills.

I'm quite disappointed.

Hopefully, we can reverse the tide in the second half, and salvage a draw.

Heh, double post.

The mighty Bantams have Peterbrough tonight and there's a Yorkshire derby at the week end with Donny Rovers at home, that'll be a good match.

Only if we had decent refs don't you mean, that is why we lost from a crap penalty decision, also if we had luck and not the other team.

I think it'a juat Brian Deane being the legend that he is and being a better player, I think.

And yes, it's away. We're at Gillingham, then we're away next weekend as well.

I look forward to the next home game on the 21st which is Leeds vs Nottingham Forest or, in SR terms, mattributé vs Forest Fan.

Come on the mattributé.

And who have the mighty City got? I'm still surprised that Hartlepool managed to overturn a 1-0 deficit against you.

If only you still had sicknote...
