For starters, let me say i hate this new way to name the leagues. Calling them Division 1, 2 and 3 made alot more sense. None the less...

Its nearly that time again! The season for us lot kicks off next weekend, after, for me, what seemed like a long summer, and i for one cant wait for the season to start.

As always, i have my season ticket and im pretty confident of what The Owls can achieve this season, im just hoping this season can be the one where the rot stops, and we gain promotion. We have a whole new team almost. We released 15 players last season, and signed 11 this, including ex Southampton captain Chrissy Marsden, and then a squad of good young players who all look the part to go with him

We have 2 friendlies left against the Bolton and Everton, and in our previous friendlies we have looked good.

I know there are a number of you lot who support teams in the lower leagues, so lets not let this forum be over run by Premiership talk and such. After all, our clubs are just as important as the bigger clubs.

So what are your hopes and fears for the new season? Who you looking forward to playing the most?

Up the Owls!!

Ahaha, yeah, I watched the vid.

And we don't lose, as illustrated by missing a word out in your post!

I think it's about time you lost a game :-)

Can't remember how it feels for us to win and to lose on a saturday :-(

Did you catch Elding wonderstrike from 6 yards at Kingfield last night?

Rob Hulse for England!

I reckon if Leeds can win away at Wigan next week (unlikely? yes. possible? yes) then we're in wih a shout for the playoff places. Sure, we've played about 19 games more than everybody else in the league, but it's a shaky table. If we pull a Palace-esque run off in the next few weeks, we're there.

Or maybe we could settle for mid-table madness.

I don't have any concrete evidence, but its the way you say they "certainly" won't be able to stay up. I think there's more than a chance of both teams promoted staying up.

What do you base this on?
The positions of Shrewsbury and Chester who both bossed this league last year would suggest otherwise.

The conference this year is the weakest in ages, any normal season would see a team who's lost 9 in mid-table not 2nd!

Agagahahahahahaha!
You can't judge this from the angle on the video. The penalty was a 50/50. The ball was gone and Louis wouldn't have reached it but there was contact. Even if the penalty didn't stand we were all over second half and still would have won. The sendings off (CORRECT sendings off - Opinel went in two-footed and high, and the other guy clearly strangled Richards earning a second yellow) pretty much decided the game.

We don't have all the luck at all. Need I remind you of the Aldershot game as one utter disgrace?

And as for winning by an odd goal, I'm afraid a lot of successful teams do it. We've really tightened up at the back this season and its paying off. We've started to score a lot more recently too with the introduction of Louis and return of Sharpee.

We really haven't been that lucky this season. There have been several games where we have been cheated by officials, and a few where decisions have gone our way. At the end of the day officials in this league are crap but you can't judge the amount of luck one team gets against another.

As for the stewards, it was a local derby and a hugely important game. Tempers were running high so its no surprise stewards were trying to calm things down.

Trust me, the gap between League 2 and the Conference isn't as big as you think.

Just seen the highlights, what a joke, never a penalty and neither was the one we had against us today. You seem to get all the luck and have an uncanny nack of winning by the odd goal. Looks like you had a homer, just like Halifax did, about time we had one.
And what's this bollards about Vines being arrested for foul language? Your stewards on the highlights were a joke.

It's a joke (word of the day after our performance) that a team can go up with their highest winning margin as 2 goals! Aldershot are 2nd and have lost NINE games, the league is a complete joke this year whoever goes up from the play-offs will most certainly be not good enough to stay up unless they make considerable changes.
