Its nearly that time again! The season for us lot kicks off next weekend, after, for me, what seemed like a long summer, and i for one cant wait for the season to start.
As always, i have my season ticket and im pretty confident of what The Owls can achieve this season, im just hoping this season can be the one where the rot stops, and we gain promotion. We have a whole new team almost. We released 15 players last season, and signed 11 this, including ex Southampton captain Chrissy Marsden, and then a squad of good young players who all look the part to go with him
We have 2 friendlies left against the Bolton and Everton, and in our previous friendlies we have looked good.
I know there are a number of you lot who support teams in the lower leagues, so lets not let this forum be over run by Premiership talk and such. After all, our clubs are just as important as the bigger clubs.
So what are your hopes and fears for the new season? Who you looking forward to playing the most?
Up the Owls!!

The Owls are goin' up!!! The Owls are goin' up!!! The Owls are goin' up!!!

And it is.

Hang on, we are nowhere near the end of the season and you're already writing us off? Good one. By saturday we could be 4th and you 11th such is the unpredictability (is that even a word?) of this season. I'd be more worried that you're playing to your maximum potential, whereas we arent playing half as good as we can, yet you only sit one point above us having played a game extra.
Let's just wait and see, yeah? Hopefully start picking up some points when we play the better sides. You'll never get as high as 3rd i'll say that for nothing (put your money away, Peter Kay).
At the start of the season you were acting as if it'd be a miracle if we were ahead of you at any point in the season.
Just admit it, you over-estimated your teams' chances completely whereas I was realistic every step of the way. :-P

Go on confguide.

I don't know where you get Hereford from, they looked pretty average when we played them and they've lost a lot of the quality they had last season. I think Carlisle will make the play-offs but saying that a couple of losses will suck them right back into the mix. And what makes you think either team wouldn't win the play-offs if they got into them? If I'm honest I think Satanage would win them; they have by far the best record against top 6 teams in the Conference and we're up there too.

Think about it, Morecambe won't be travelling up on the Tuesday night. They're full time; they will leave in the morning and, if anything, have more time to prepare for the evening match.

Its four more fixtures (and the final which is positioned out of the way) not a hell of a lot, your team has already endured one more than ours in the FA Cup. With 9 of our normal 10 outfield first teamers 24 or under I think more games can only help the players. There's no reason why a full-time set of youngsters can't play three times a fortnight.

Aha, yes. ;-D

Nothing like a good generalisation to start the post off.

Trust me most people dont think this. It'll be Carlisle, Hereford for definite and then the next two places are anybodys guess. Evene if either of us were to make the play-offs we wouldn't win it.

But it will work in our favour with Morecambe travelling such a long way on a tuesday night.
> And who's to say it'll affect our league form?
If you get to the final then it WILL affect your form, your squad hasn't got great depth has it? Therefore with a fixture pile-up at the end it won't help. Besides you'll get knocked out at some point rendering it silly to have all these midweek fixtures.
> sometimes I think the big-headedness of Westley rubs off on the fans.
Ahaha WesTly is gay!!!1111
A) We are two funking points behind you; those can be picked up in a single weekend. I don't understand where all this expectation is coming from. "Oh we want out the trophy we're clearly favourites for the playoffs". Rubbish. As far as I see it there's 10 teams going for 3 places.
B) You do realise that Morecambe, the team you're due to play on the weekend of the trophy, are still IN the trophy, don't you? This would mean the game, like ours, would have to be arranged for a Tuesday night. I think you'll agree, this is hardly as convienient as playing on the Saturday.
C) 3 - 0 on aggregate - ner ner ner nerr nerr.
D) Every time we have beaten you scummers in the trophy we have gone on to win it. As much as I'd favour promotion over winning it there's no way I'm going to turn it down. The trophy is a great competition with great tradition. And who's to say it'll affect our league form?
Stop being so high and mighty and start acting your position. You're a team in with a shout of the playoffs; fin. Christ, sometimes I think the big-headedness of Westley rubs off on the fans.
> Did you attend the action-crammed thriller at Kingfield today Quint?
Nope, had intended to until friday when i realised i couldn't be bothered to watch our reserves hoof it up and down the pitch.
Nethertheless, enjoy Tonbridge Angels away and a nice fixture pile up :-D
Excellent result in my book.
