Shearer scored 31 in 35 when they won the league. Just amazing. Downhill after his injury though.
You've forgotten retired players such as Romario, Klinsmann, Cantona, Batistuta? And there's plenty of strikers playing today who are better than Shearer was at his peak - Shevchenko, Ronaldo and Thierry Henry, for example. And, of course, Diego Forlan.
Scholes with the first, Schevchenko hits back 10 seconds from time, goes to penalties, Tim Howard misses his in his home town.

Leeds United's summer signings are not, by a long shot, Leeds' best players. Academy superstars (Goalkeeper: Scott Carlson Defender/midfield: Matthew Killgannon, Defender: Fraiser Richardson, Midfielder: Simon Walton, Striker: Jamie Mcmaster and Striker: Simon Johnson) are all incredible incredible players. And I mean in a few seasons they'll be going for BIG money.
The sad thing is that the eldest out of all of them is 18 with some players as young as 16. The academy stars are exactly that, academy stars. Future England squad in the making. But future England squad indeed.
It is a VERY big gamble to play these young players so early, what if they are injured? The championship is grueling and can they take the pressure?
So good old Blackwell went a searching and we have got some age old legend strikers, with Sullivan in goal... Sullivan is almost twice the age his competitor for the Number one shirt!
The problem Leeds have is that they have golden oldies and future heroes...
Where are the 23-28 year olds that a squad should consist of?
If leeds bounce back straight away then I hope, no I pray, that the academy stars have grown up and we'll have a first team to be proud of.
In the meantime. Go Brian Dean.

I'm not an insecure fan so I'll let that pass. Even still, you'll get played off the park by Henry, Pires, the new Reyes and the back 2.
Another win for the Whites! Roll on CCC...:D
