Lean back, mishit AND fall on your a**e...well, we all know what happened there.

For Christ's sake. If Terry had not been there - would Ricardo have been able to make contact with the ball?
Yes.
What the hell was Ricardo meant to do? Just stand there and watch? This pish about him looking for a foul and running into Terry is bull. You really think he'd risk that on the 90th minute when it's the most crucial part of the game?
I think not.
Blame it on the conditions, the ball, his boots, that stupid tattoo on the back of his neck, whatever..
Beckham took a crap penalty because he lent back. And ONLY he can take the blame for that. You lean back and it goes over. Lean back AND mishit it then you'll look even worse.

Fair enough.
But still, Beckham didn't slice that ball over the bar due to a slip-up on his part - I think that's all that's being said here.

Well Terry was in the air, with his arms already up, and the goalkeeper actually moved into him - probably looking to draw a foul or something.
Anyhow, Terry did nothing wrong. I had some doubts about it at first - but now it's been considered from numerous angles by official analysts, it's been proved that Terry's in the clear.

It was apparently as bad at the other end and did Portugal not win the toss?
Still better than our old school pitch though. Just used to be a big hole in the ground! Used to fill up when it rained!
Everyone's blaming Beckham, but now we know it clearly wasn't his fault and the referee shouldn't have allowed the shootout at that end.

John Terry impeded the goalkeeper.
That was a definite as well. It was harsh, nor was the foul given for that, but he should have been anyway.
