A bank robbing/general heist game. Each different level is a different set-up that requires you to infiltrate different locations, avoid/take out guards, set up electronics, lay traps and bluffs, shimmy through air vents, avoid laser beams, all in the style of Oceans Eleven.
Just imagine how cool a game like that could be. Breaking into a casino vault. Choosing five men to take part, all with different abilities eg. small chinese guy fits through vents, big knucklehad knocks out guards, dweeby guy is good with electronics, pickpocket can steal keys and paperwork, charming guy can distract people... it's a classic waiting to happen. Add several different ways to complete each break-in and you've yourself a winner. You could even break up different heists into different locations by nicking bits of equipment from elsewhere.
Nick the best bits from Splinter Cell, throw in a bit of M:I-style action (lowering yourself through air vents etc.), a few Bond-style gadgets and you've got a class-A game. Obviously the game would have to be fairly difficult, and you'd fail the first few times, but once you get to learn people's routines, find passwords and codes, disguise yourself as key employees etc. you learn each level.
Man, this game would rule. Like Splinter Cell but set in Vegas without Michael Ironside. All ideas are copyrighted to me, mofos. As far as I know, a game like this has never been created, that focuses solely on the break-in side of things, so it'd be fairly fresh and original.
And yes, I did just watch the Parole Officer.
Exactly what Ash was saying.
You'd need to all work as a unit. And perhaps before you actually tackle a mission, there's a run through, with a mock up of the up and coming level in a warehouse or something, so that things can be rehearsed etc (á la Ocean's 11)?
And not steal it and slap Ocean's 12 on the top or whatever.
I had the idea of breaking one of your essential criminal buddies out of jail/police custody to help you. Also, you have to get finances for your equipment, and you go and see someone who doesn't look anything like Elliot Gould. When he dismisses you as amateurs, you have to break into his extremely large mansion and steal something very private and personal to him, that's being stored in his 'un-break-in-able' safe. You then post it back to him with a cheque, figures completed, smugly awaiting his signature.
Is this going to rock or what?
Just imagine having people keeping watch for guards, and co-ordinating when and when not to move. People with certain types of devices that are needed at certain times. The amount of teamwork involved in this would be phenomenal, almost revolutionary to the word "co-operation". And then, even more genius, possible if you were being stealthy, and somebody spoke through their microphone really loud, a guard would hear you in some way, and react accordingly, getting all suspicious.
> why not?
Twas exactly what I was thinking.
If we're being completely honest, I do believe this would be a brilliant game, and would indeed sell in it's millions.
:^)
In all seriousness though - would you actually see your self taking this somewhere? Realistically?
> 'Seductress' knocks over wine glass onto security guards trousers. He
> bends over, she nabs card...etc,
Bingo.
And this could also play a part in the different route through game thing.
That particular guard may have to then go to, I dunno, the bogs or something to try and wash it off, which is a place you were planning on passing on via a vent or something.
And so you could use the wine, or something else. Like papers ("oops, I dropped these. You wouldn't mind helping me, would you...?" as they bend over etc).
Hmm.
