And it's mine!

A bank robbing/general heist game. Each different level is a different set-up that requires you to infiltrate different locations, avoid/take out guards, set up electronics, lay traps and bluffs, shimmy through air vents, avoid laser beams, all in the style of Oceans Eleven.

Just imagine how cool a game like that could be. Breaking into a casino vault. Choosing five men to take part, all with different abilities eg. small chinese guy fits through vents, big knucklehad knocks out guards, dweeby guy is good with electronics, pickpocket can steal keys and paperwork, charming guy can distract people... it's a classic waiting to happen. Add several different ways to complete each break-in and you've yourself a winner. You could even break up different heists into different locations by nicking bits of equipment from elsewhere.

Nick the best bits from Splinter Cell, throw in a bit of M:I-style action (lowering yourself through air vents etc.), a few Bond-style gadgets and you've got a class-A game. Obviously the game would have to be fairly difficult, and you'd fail the first few times, but once you get to learn people's routines, find passwords and codes, disguise yourself as key employees etc. you learn each level.

Man, this game would rule. Like Splinter Cell but set in Vegas without Michael Ironside. All ideas are copyrighted to me, mofos. As far as I know, a game like this has never been created, that focuses solely on the break-in side of things, so it'd be fairly fresh and original.

And yes, I did just watch the Parole Officer.

That t'is true actually, Az, very cast away from the original plot. High security places are what we need, like the Bank, Casino, Jail and possibly a larger corporation.

Hmmmm...

That's the trouble. If, in all seriousness, you took this to a developer, who then took it to a publisher, what the hell are they going to say?

Let's take on a heist game that's all cinematic and stylish, and hope it sells? Or link it to Oceans 12 and see it sell millions?

Damn them. And you Snuggly, for you no love of 12 player co-op.

:)

Hmm.
I feel I have to disagree.

That seems in complete contrast to stealing money/items. The latter has to be done concisely, beating high-tech systems etc etc.
Whereas a garage is just, well, y'know.
And I think there'd have to be something in the plot like, at the beginning there's an attempt on somewhere (or maybe a short cut scene of the main character you start with doing this) but you fail.
Then later on, or possibly the grand finalé, you reattempt it - and it's done with the whole schebang.
If you see what I mean.

And I meant 12 player.

Completely unfeasible in terms of actually getting 12 people to work together, but my God would it be cool.

Haha, everything's a la Ocean's Eleven at the moment, I'm gonna get sued.

I think the most I'd go to in regards to multiplay would be a two-player co-op mode. Any more would just complicate things. Coding single player games is hard enough, but imagine how much work would have to go into watching and reacting to the actions of several people at once?

Think I'll stick to just the one or two players at once.

Did I say 12-player co-op.

No.

I'm not the most avid of gamers compared to a majority of people on these forums.
I don't own a single next gen console.

But this really does sound amazing.

Possibly start off with smaller businesses. A garage for instance, stealing cars and deporting them, or a certain stock of a certain item. You could also steal devices, that could be used later on in different missions. Then again, who said you had to have loads of different locations. Just four or five with several different chapters in each would be amazing.

12 player co-op.

No?
