I agree, ze Germans looked good going forward but there defence was shocking. Put them up against the likes of Henry and they will get ruined. I know they score 4 goals but they Costa Rica aren't exactly the best team in the world. A better defence would be able to cope with them. But saying that ze Germans seem to always do well!
On a different note did you see the ball move for the first and last goals? I have a feeling there are going to be some great goals this world cup!

Well, it was an interesting first day. Germany looked good going forward but they looked very suspect at the back and could be exposed by a better team. It doesn't seem like they could solve that in a week. Saying that, I don't think Germany has any team to worry about in their group.
Poland really only have themselves to blame for their defeat. They seemed to sit back and try to control the game for most of the first half and it gave Ecuador a chance to settle and steal the lead. Poland then huffed and puffed and couldn't find the killer pass. Ecuador scored again and Poland still couldn't do anything. Poland found a couple of decent passes and the shots found the woodwork.
I can't see the team in Group B having to play one of the 3 teams other than Germany having too many sleepless nights over them.

Germany should win against Costa Rica but I reckon Poland V Ecuador will be close.

It's interesting that the winners aren't kicking off the tournament. I suppose that's due to the fact that the winners have to qualify and the hosts are certain of playing.
