I don't know a great deal of what sort of thing I'd be undertaking by joining the force but I am sure it is better than etching out my existance in a lowly cubicle of a generic office block.

Like all jobs though depending on how dedicated you are and how well you are at it you can be promoted and transferred to different sectors and so on. It's entirely up to you how you progress in your career I guess.
