God was used to explain the unexplainable but now we understand some of the unexplainable. We no longer need God like our ancesters. All we need is hope...
Human nature is destruction and the only thing that we should hope for is that we do not destroy the beautiful planet on which we live. We do not deserve the gifts we have but maybe one day we will be truely gateful for them...
Most of them lived to be almost a thousand years old, that's just insanity.
The flood story is plausable because the bible is not the only religion to describe it happening, meaning that other religions lived and survived through it, making the bible's claims of every living thing on that boat a bit unsustainable.

Faith in a story about a geezer who got a male and a female of every animal in the world on a boat with him? Sounds a bit far fetched to me.
Here, here's a good question. It says he got one of every animal, right? Well that includes fishes. And don't just say they'd all have survived in the sea, because it says one of *every* animal. Unless you're telling me fishes aren't animals anymore.
How'd he get the fishes to survive on the boat, eh? Did they have aquariums in those days? And what did the animals eat? If the carnivores ate one of the animals, say the male monkey, then the monkey race would've been doomed, unless the female monkey was already up the duff.
Oh, and how'd you fit a couple of blue whales on a boat, eh? Think about that'un.

The ark; there is no way every species on earth can be fitted on a boat. You ignored that point in the initial post, please do answer it.
Okay, there's one. Lets hear your proof. You seem to be veering from saying that your belief in the bible is down to personal faith, to claiming that there is incontrovertable proof.

So was "Satyricon", a novel written in the time of Nero. It mentions werewolves. Are we to believe that it's age makes it true?

Look at them objectively? Right...so these reference works, all of which according to Forest Fan we HAVE to accept or we'll BURN IN HELL...you want them to be looked at objectively?
Okay; how about you look objectively at the various Pagan myths that make up the bulk of Christianity? And the fact that the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics rules concerning entropy only apply in a closed system, something this planet and the whole universe isn't?

Uh-uh. You first.

Some of you claim to have "faith." Faith is what the Bible is based on. That it's the infallible, inerrant, incorruptible Word of God. I could post endlessly defending the Word. Would it do me any good? Not the way you blokes blow it off. I got a reaction from you, though. I like good banter. I am not trying to aggravate anyone. Forgive me if I have. But you claim it's fiction. It was here before you and will be here long after you're gone. Jesus said, "Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my Word shall NEVER pass away."
I have some reference works I could give, but I am not going to endlessly post passage after passage because I am not wanting the staffers to give me a warning. If all of you would look at it objectively, I'll post the reference work titles. I don't have them all. Most are very old. I have access to only a few.
It's up to you.

So I take it you don't have an answer for the ice cores? Cheers.

Ahh, good 'ol answersingenesis. The crutch of the christian argument regardless of how shakey the "science" is.
So I guess you are conceding the ice cores?

Balls.
So you have no proof whatsoever outside of the Bible.
On another note, I watched a programme last night (Horizon, BBC2, 9pm) on the conveyor (The Gulf Stream) loosing salinity, and the effects on climate if it stops.
Now, in Alaska, scientists have been drilling cores from the ice. Each year, the climate adds a new layer of ice to the topsheet, and if the layers in these cores are counted, it forms a method for measuring age (think of the rings in a tree, each ring is a new years growth).
Now, the layers in the cores are currently dating back 10,000 years.
And they are still drilling.
Sorta sticks a finger in the eye of your "the world is only 6000 years old" theory, without using, according to you, flawed methods like carbon dating doesn't it?

The Bible is some of the oldest literature in the world. There probably weren't any other books written, that have survived through to today in the time of Noah.
