Had a hearing test done today as part of my hospital regime, and all is not well. My one hearing ear is deteriorating quite rapidly. The norm in a good ear is a hearing range of about 20-20,000Hz, six weeks ago it was about 250-20,000Hz in my ear with background noise, today it was about 450-20,000Hz. I've lost a range of 200Hz in just 6 weeks! You can do the maths.

For anyone who wants a sort of off-set, a middle C on a piano is about 260Hz.

Not at all when there is background noise, only just when it is completely silent, at completely silent I'm about 250Hz.

The normal rate is about 10-15Hz a year I think.
