The Good:
A: Nintendo DS sells out in Europe, 500,000 consoles shipped!
B: PSP sales are down in Japan with new DS colours defeating them, PSP only selling half its shipment in America.
C: Resident Evil 4 charts at a respectible Number 5.
The Bad:
A: Worst march ever in America for Nintendo, hardware sales and software sales down. Due to stiff competiton.
B: Resident Evil 4 would have charted higher if Nintendo had decided to supply enough games. Selling out very quickly and then not renewing the demand! Dropped to number 19 in a week and then dropped out the charts, wouldn't have happened if Nintendo supplied the demand.
C: Exact same problem with the DS, Wario Ware Touched! STILL missing from most major retailers with Mario 64 DS just coming back into stock. DS is still selling out in places. Both a good AND bad thing.
So mixed emotions.
Oh and maybe, just maybe... I was right:

If the Revolution just plays simple one button games then Nintendo will alienate 90% of its userbase, the people who can cope with "complex" (what on earth is he on about anyway?) controls are the people who buy the most games! People who aren't interested enough in games to be able to play them aren't exactly going to go out in their droves and purchase Revolution consoles justbecause they're easy to play, are they?
And you can blame the Germans for not getting enough copies of Resi 4 - they just decided not to print many. God knows why, the game sold like hotcakes in America. Nintendo really need to take the EU market more seriously. It's not wonder they're in dead last place when it comes to sales.
And haha, t urd is in the swear filter.
At least Iwata isn't talking about voice recognition anymore - that would have been a point-blank rocket launcher.
But there's nothing better than a controller for controlling games. That's the whole point of them, you fools. This is a shotgun blast from two feet away.
There's nothing better than pressing a button - physically doing something. Not tapping a designated area - I mean, what's the game going to say "press the strange octangonal blob near the bottom right hand corner NOW!" "too late, GAME OVER" ?
And you can't possibly tell which button you're going to press without looking at the controller - can't skip your thumb about from place to place, because there's nothing solid there to tell you which button you're on.
Rubbish.
Way to make things simpler.

I disagree. Whenever I'm playing two games at the same time eg. Morrowind and Halo 2(Sorry to quote xbox games), it is hard to adjust to the games. I find myself throwing grenades with the intention of jumping, but this will not be the case with a completely customizable pad.
I can see ways it could be used for good, but it alienates most current console games.
So long as they keep it cheap so people don't have to make the choice between it and a PS3/Xbox2 then it could do well. I mean, it's the revolution for people who have played "classic" games to death, but that catagory doesn't include the mass market casual gamer.
Nintendo will have to do something REALLY special with it to pull in the punters.
Oh, and welcome back.
We missed you! :-)

Indeed, I agree.
Having to look at the controller to check the button config for every game would be annoying, a controller and it's button layout should be easy enough to use and get used to so that it can be forgotten about while playing a game.
It certainly comes across that way. They'll lose a lot of support if that's what happens.
