On Saturday, a childhood hero of mine - David Rocastle - died of a form of cancer. He was 33.

My best friend's dad also died from cancer a few years ago.

I also fear cancer because, though I've never smoked, I grew up with two parents who were heavy smokers; my mum has since given up, but my dad continues to smoke reasonably heavily.

Now all of us with PC's or Mac's have a chance to assist in finding a cure for this disease.

Go to this URL:

http://members.ud.com /vypc/cancer/

(remember to remove the space)

...and download the software. It runs in your computer's spare cycles and analyses potential cures for cancer.

All other relevant info can be found on the site.

If anyone is interested in joining it, I have created a team called 'Special Reserve Forum Regulars'.

Conformers reset every so often - the important figure, I believe, is 'Hits'.

So far, at work, I have 17 hits; none here at home though.

The agent shuld definitely pick up from where it left off - I just shut it down and restarted to check, and it did.

Yeah, or I'll pull yer arms out!

Seriously though... the site is still a bit on the slow side, but it's much better than it was last night.

Ok, i'll give it a go. Still on a whopping 0% after 5 hours and 219 million conformations!

Has yours finished yet? If so how many conformations did you have? Does it upload automatically?

Pretty sure, yes - when I put my home PC on tonight, mine restarted from where I shut it down last night.

I just click the Snooze button, then shut down. When you switch back on, it just picks up where it left off.
