I remember this as being one of the greatest games of all time, but I don't remember it being THIS great! I truly am blown away by, yes, a PSOne game. It is now my favourite game of the moment and I'll definately not be getting rid of this baby again!
If you no longer own this, or have never played it, I strongly suggest you get hold of a copy - you won't be disappointed (unless last-gen graphics are a problem to you).
I'm only up to the bit where Shinra are trying to bring the plate down over Sector 7, but I can safely say I won't be on Live or PS2 Online for a while yet!
By the time I've finished this, I'll have Crystal Chronicles to get through too...
Anyhoo, please post your views/memories etc. of this game on here so I can see how many of you feel the same as me about this gem of a game.
I hope it is remade like the rumours say...

I remember that she'll jack you if you say something wrong, but don't tell me the right thing to say please, I'll figure it out meself!
Thanks anyway.

Oh well, I always made sure I visited them each time, if I didn't go there after a bit I would go back and they would say 'Shinra have attacked x times since you last visited, we have x gil left', now I assumed that once they run out of gil, they get overrun by Shinra.
As for donating, I only gave em cash when I went up to North Crater, otherwise I help out and fight the battles myself. Besides, going back and forth is always a good excuse to get into some fights and power up.
I'm over the pond now, that's all.

After every major section of game, you should return to fight at the Reactor. Basically, when you first come across it, fight, then go do Junon, then go back and fight, then do Costa Del Sol, then go back and fight ... essentially after you complete every area. Shinra should reappear at that point every time. When you fight and win, you get a decent item PLUS you keep Shinra from getting the materia in the reactor ... which is essential for getting some good stuff later on. If you need money, there is a nice forest near Junon you can hang around in, stick ALL your people in FURY mode and they'll get limits nice and quick (helping you power up your limit breaks faster), the monsters have ethers to steal which are worth their weight in gold, you get a decent amount of AP/cash for fighting them PLUS you can come across secret character Kitty!
I know the story is enticing, but doing all this malarky really helps you in the long run. Its a pain going back to there each time you do a bit of game, esp after you get quite far away from it, but deffo worth it. If you don't fight at the reactor, the people there will use 3000 gil to fight off Shinra. When they run out of funds and Shinra attack, they take the reactor. If you want a nice strategy for fighting the reactor battle, I've got a nice cheap efficient technique. Just shout!
Also, when you go off to the City Of The Ancients, you're heading into an area when its hard to get back to the reactor, you need to leave them about 15,000 gil in order to fend of Shinra with while you're away. If they don't use all the cash, you'll get some back. Plus you should be able to spare that kinda money by that point!
