I remember this as being one of the greatest games of all time, but I don't remember it being THIS great! I truly am blown away by, yes, a PSOne game. It is now my favourite game of the moment and I'll definately not be getting rid of this baby again!
If you no longer own this, or have never played it, I strongly suggest you get hold of a copy - you won't be disappointed (unless last-gen graphics are a problem to you).
I'm only up to the bit where Shinra are trying to bring the plate down over Sector 7, but I can safely say I won't be on Live or PS2 Online for a while yet!
By the time I've finished this, I'll have Crystal Chronicles to get through too...
Anyhoo, please post your views/memories etc. of this game on here so I can see how many of you feel the same as me about this gem of a game.
I hope it is remade like the rumours say...
Arrived in Junon, had the fight with that dirty great big Serpent on the beach - I don't remember coming across that last time!
Also encountered Jenova Birth - scary stuff! I seriously though I was wasted then!
Finally I saved on the way to the Gold Saucer. Cannae wait to get there!
What is everyones favourite bit in the game? The graphics are great it is worth every penny and takes up double the time of any other game thats whats so good about it.Besides you would probably just waste your time scratching your balls in front of tv watching jerry springer. ff7 absoulutely claaasssss.

by the way, I think ff8 is just about the best, and if I'm not a completely "if you take away my FF i'm going to have to ram this controller down your throat" type of person, then the earth is in the shape of a particularly disgusting rollercoaster.

This is a great piece - pretty much explaining everything about Cloud if you didn't manage to piece it all together. If you missed the flash-back when you touch the tanks down in Nibelhiem (i think) mansion basement - you seriously need to check it out.
Cloud still is the only proper, multi-dimentional, complex character to appear in a game.
Now I've got all these funky memories coming back. Love it.

Going onto 8, I did love the way the party mechanics worked. Everyone was nice and happy except for your geezer Squall who remained eternally moody for most of the game. The characters developed nicely in it too. Some of the set pieces there were CLASS. The opening movie, the SeeD exam, assasinating the sorceress and the battle of the Gardens was wicked. I also liked the way the game structure finally moved on from the usual Square style. I remember with Secret of Mana, you just plodded from one location to the next, in a pretty much linear line around the map until the end of the game. Same with FF7. You start off in Midgar and then plod round in a line round the world map from town to town ... going through all the usual visual styles in the process, icy places, a desert ra ra ra. With 8, it was more your storyline the dictated where you went to, you'd get sent off on the exam, then back home, then to Timber, end up in prison ... generally more surprise as to where you would end up next in the game.
I found it quite amazing that its the hardcore FF fans least favourite of the games!

I second that.
I wish those rumours would be made true about FF7 getting remade. It would certainly do the game justice.
I really must get myself a copy of Final Fantasy 8 again too, I loved that one too. Both managed to get a storyline with top suspense in them.
When the PSP eventually surfaces, I'd love to see Sqaure do a conversion job to make them portable.
