Boro win 2-1 against the Arsenal

Sorry Boro but I think it's Bolton's year.

I would say that Bridge is the better defender, but until we have a star left-winger in the england set-up, Cole's attacking qualities are much needed, hence his continued preference.

Not only does bridge have better defensive qualities, he can stay on the pitch longer than 70 odd mins without being sent off, he can actually cross a ball well, and he gets forward and scores. Not to mention he has amazing celebrations, and he doesn't dive.

Just a few reasons why Bridge is clearly better than Cole.

I do rate that Gael Clichy though, he looks like an excellent prospect.

Yeah but c'mon, we got Eriksson as manager. He's never heard of the left midfield position. Either that or he just doesn't know that some people have left feet.....

i was implying that we would have a left footed player or winger in there

not too sure about that. it was vieira who beat lampard, to lay it to freddie, who stumbled past gallas or terry to score. then ray started to shine and played better than any other midfielder on the day to score a great goal and shovel loads of effort.

i cant believe im arguing with a chelsea fan. usually they just get a punch on the arm and the matter's ressolved :D

There hasn't been an England match in a while and Scholes was carrying an injury whilst playing for United & England, he's had an op since then and seems to be coming back into form. I thought he did ok for England, just not score but he is a class act who can change games in a matter of minutes and he still has a big role to play for club and country.

Scholes gets forward and scores goals. That's what he does. He's one of the best players in England, but at the moment, he's not playing well for England, and therefore I think that Lampard should be given a starting place.

Scholes typically plays a different role for england. He doesn't score, but he still plays well in an england shirt.

I've no problem with Lampard getting the nod to warm the england bench ahead of Butt, but Scholes is top top class.
