The Playstation 2 is now destined to become even more popular than its predecessor, having sold a staggering 10 million units in only 5 months. This means simply that your investing in the future, every major developer is now producing games for the PS2 and already the PS2 has some great games released for it. Such as Zone of Enders (Z.O.E.), Timesplitters and TekkenTagTournament. But as they say the best is yet to come with GranTurismo3, MetalGearSolid 2, Silent Hill2, WWF Smackdown 3 and the Getaway sure to be big hits when they’re released later this year.

Ah, the stereotypical casual gamer, the people who destroyed gaming, they didn't help it one bit. Now we have to put up with hundreds of cart racing games and various dodgy cash-in games. AHHHHHHHHHHHH..crap alert.

Meka Dragon and Ant, are you mentally disfigured? I have played on a PS2 many a time and it really IS NOT a hardcore gamer's machine. Sequels are good BUT THEY HAVE TO BE DIFFERENT!!!! Is RR5 different from RR4? Nooooo. Is TTT different from Tekken 3? Nooooo. Now, is Phantasy Star Online different from Phantasy Star. YES, YES, YES! The plot is different, the game is different.

The same applies to Shenmue 2. At least it provides a different setting, lots of new features (The Zelda style button select for example) and much more. Final Fantasy is ok but too many sequels can spoil the broth that originally tasted good.

Stop talking crap Meka and Ant. I'm not totally ragging PS2. GT3 and MGS2 are kind of rehashes but they might be worthy of purchase if there is enough difference.

How many of you people who are mocking the PS2 ACTUALLY OWN ONE??????????????????? OR ARE YOU JUST BEING BIAST?????

I've found that you guys are rather unfair about the dreamcast...yes it's dead...but it has some good titles. every console (well almost all of them) have a few really good titles that other consoles just can't have...

I'm thinking of getting a PS2 (so i'm not an anti PS person) or an Xbox (so i am not anti microsoft)...and i already have a dreamcast (so definitely not an anti sega person). I think i'll wait until the x box is released and see how things turn out...that's the safest bet.

Mind you there are some quite cool titles on the PS2...and on the Xbox too...

Nobody will be swayed by your words. You aren't superior because you don't have a PS2. In fact, you'll miss out on some top titles.

Well if you're saying that then Phantasy Star Online is just a re-hash of an old SMS game, and the GameCube lineup will mostly be a re-hash of old games.

I love it when these franchises continue. The Final Fantasy games have brought joy to millions of gamers, and I'd hardly say that they were 'casual' gamers games. Long may this series continue, I say.

I really don't understand the logic that states that only casual gamers have a PSX or PS2. Surely MORE casual gamers will have had a PSX because a higher percentage of gamers in general had one. Then there's criticising the PS for having lots of sequels, when Shenmue 2 is a highly anticipated DC title, as was Majura's Mask on the N64.

It really is quite laughable.

how can you so be so openly biast and stoopid pagey. How can you condeme a console that has only been availible in europe for 4 months? Even trying to compare the PS2 to the dreamcast is silly. As i have recently discovered the dreamcast is now no longer, sega are stopping to produce them and are just concentrating on games design. Hardcore gamers you say? surley the type of person that gave the computer the spotty geek image from years gone by, sitting in all hours playing when you should be socialising, which sony openly encouraged by releasing the original PS as a clubing essential, Doing so brought it gaming from the dark ages and to its current healthy state. Dreamcast isnt shallow huh? What about soul edge and Crazy taxi to name but two. Shallow arcade conversions but damn fun and the systems biggest sellers. Xbox is a no no too, give it a week and microsoft will send out a patch up dick costing £300 quid to stop all the system errors. And i haven't ever heard something so stoopid as to put the final fantasy games in an argument digging at shallow games. How can a solid 60 hours of gameplay be shallow? How big are these games you play on the dreamcast or are you really bad at them?

please dont take out your poor performance of the dreamcast out on to the ever growing powerful DVD playing might that is PS2. As the highlander says "there can be only one" and Sega have started the ball rolling in bringing this true!!

You said that it reached 10 million units in 5 months. But the PS2 came out in Japan just over a year ago. So are you counting those sales or just the last 5 months where the PS2 has been available every where near enough.
