Yes, exactly.

Though I wouldn't say the first was simple or basic. I didn't fully understand the plot the first time I saw it, and it admittedly took me three watchings until I was completely sure of it. The great thing about the original is that you can watch it over and over again and each time it seems new and immensely enjoyable. Whatsmore, I'm STILL noticing new things when I watch it through.

e.g.

Stoned man at Neo's door: "You're my saviour man; my very own Jesus Christ"

And he really is.

Too true, sure, only uber fans probably get the whole plot and every intricacy of it, but a hell of a lot of people got not one jot of it.

After my cousin saw it she wanted to know how the cities were rebuilt so fast at the end of the film because everywhere was wrecked in the first film....*groans*

A mate said "the bit on the underground was a waste of time" and I've heard many such comments.

First film has simple plot and won attention with slow mo gun fights, swirling trenchcoats and automatic weapons fire mixed with a touch of Terminator apocalytic vision. Basic storyline as well. Neo lives in fantasy world, Neo rescued by Morpheus, Morpheus captured, Neo and Trinity rescue Morpheus, Neo fight Smith, Win, superman bit. Then we get Reloaded which doesn't go for the mass appeal factor of sfx, adds a bit of complexity, then we get Revolutions when things (for Hollywood) get complicated and people don't get it. But hey, it's not like their is a tradition of films being disliked for making people use a brain eh?

No, Neo LET Smith take over him (as he realised it was the only way) so that the machine could use Neo as a link to destroy Smith. That's what was going on when his body was being "pumped" in the real world.

By taking over Neo, Smith unbalanced the equation and so as the opposite, had to be destroyed also. Neo had to be completely removed from the Matrix for this to happen and because of his awesome 'connection', he was killed. Notice the Jesus-pose as he was carted off.

When Revolutions comes out I plan to enjoy a mammoth session of back-to-back viewing of the Matrix. Yum.

Hang on; isn't it a little strange how the Oracle was left and nobody else? Even Neo (who "remains irrevicably human") disappeared, and we presume he's dead when we see his outstretched body in the Matrix. We then also see Saphi lying alone on the stone. My conclusion? They remain because they are programs.

Indeed. In fact, it's glaringly obvious that Smith's posession of the Oracle is what gave him his supreme power. As somebody who claims to have fully understood the film, I'd have thought you'd have got this MoJo. Or are we reading you wrong?

Actually, that can't be done. Once a cell has been infected by a virus, the only thing to do is to kill that cell to stop the virus spreading.

Biological fact.

They never died, they lost the Smith that covered them, this is shown when we see the oracle at the end.

Yep, that was retarded.

Smith copied himself over them, he made it rather obviouswhen he said (Something along the lines of) "I'm a lot nicer once you get to know us"

It was sorta indicated when he copied himself over the oracle, I mean, every other time he copied himself he just copied, but whn he copied himself over the oracle it got all windy and stuff.
