What's the best or most unexpected way you've killed or disabled someone in the MGS2 demo?

This is mine...

After assuming control of Snake, I made my way up to the top deck of the ship, outside. I was practicing the 'hold up' tecnique, and caught one of the guards at the corner of the gangway; he was facing outwards.

Then I made the mistake of putting my gun away, at which point the guy turned, punched me (well, punched Snake), and went for his gun. As Snake got back to his feet, I started hitting the punch button (circle) almost in a fit of panic. Three presses... punch, punch, roundhouse...

The roundhouse kick connected with the guard's chin, and sent him flying backwards, over the guard rail, to the deck below, screaming as he fell!

It was totally unexpected, and I sat there in amazement at what had just happened, with my jaw on the floor. I know it only sounds like a 'litte thing', but I was completely shocked;I did not expect to be able to get the guard off of the walkway in that fashion.

Any other 'novel' methods?

Something that amused me last night. I was one side of the the glass, last remaining guard was the other side, staring at me. He started shooting the glass. I waited till it shattered, then I shot him. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer, that one.....

Ok, I am going to shut up about how long it will be until we can play MGS2.
I don't care if it takes another year to be released - it will be worth it.
Got Z.O.E last night, haven't played it yet though because MGS2 demo has been going non-stop.
No loading problems, no wait, just straight in.
And all I can say is:

For What We Are About To Recieve We Are Truly Grateful.

From the moment the game starts proper until you reach the bridge and it ends, this is sheer class.
A game by people that play games and like them.
People that want to push back what gaming is about.

My favourite bits?
Hiding in a locker whilst the gaurds search for you before deciding that you must have left.
Hanging over the rail on deck, dropping down onto a gaurd before shaking him about and lobbing him off the edge of the boat.
And, the all time best way to feel instantly tougher?

Standing with your gun pointed at the back of a guard, he turns round, sees you and sticks his hands up in the air.
Point your gun at his head and he starts shrieking unintelligible Japanese at you, does a little dance and surrenders his goodies.
And then you shoot him.

And the joy in blasting melons is somewhat and strangely alluring.
More fruit in games I demand.

MGS2 demo, a glimpse into Nirvana.

Finally pulling himself away from his PS2, Ali wanders into a strange place that he has not been into for a very long time.

He sees various white goods, a cooker, and a sink. Ah! He though, "I must be in the kitchen!"

Ali's stomach begins to rumble. He needs food, and fast.

He looks in one cupboard. Cleaning products, all expired.

He tries another. Plates.

Looking around the room, he wonders where to check next. Maybe there's something in the cupboards by the fridge.

Here he finds just what he's been looking for:

Did you know that if you shoot a bottle in the room with the security camera and saucepans, the camera will pick up on it and will alert the guards! Oh, the detail! Also, shooting the top bits of lights does nothing, where shooting the bulb makes it shatter in dozens of bits of glass. How about shooting the pipes to make steam go in the guard's eyes and temporarily stopping him? Anyone else got any more cool touches?

I'd tend to agree with Meka on this one. The game has been in development for so long that I think we can assume that it's essentially complete.

There's no doubt that final tweaks will be made and that there are finishing touches to be applied. But I wouldn't be at all surprised if the release date has been put back intentionally with at least one eye on the launch of the Nintendo and Micrsoft consoles.

IMHO it would probably be more due to Xbox than GameCube, because Xbox is more of a direct competitor to PS2 in 'like-for-like' terms, and also because reports suggest that Microsoft will be targetting Sony specifically.

Maybe, but pretty much all I've seen of MGS2 so far is from the demo. Perhaps the game engine is fundamentally in place, the rest of the time is for creating the remainding levels.

The fact that they've managed to get a decent demo out surely indicates that the game is at least somewhere near completion. Just a case of rubbing off those rough edges, I should think.

They'll probably launch in the US around the time of either the GameCube or XBox launch!
