But how can I be cynical by quoting a possibly encouraging statement?

Similarly, what's to misunderstand about Reggie: We're certainly working hard to have a *very* strong level of support."

To be honest I'd think Reggie as being more in the business side of Nintendo knows more than Shigsy.

What's to misunderstand about "At this point, we've only been talking with a few companies. However, if other companies come forward and they want to join us to work with us to create games, of course that would be great for us."

Hardly trying too hard to get other parties on-board.
Oh yeah ... if you wanna come .... then I suppose you can join in.

Good work.

If the have EA, Ubi and SCi on board they'll have plenty of titles.

IGNcube: Can we expect Nintendo to collaborate with more third parties on Revolution games?

Shigeru Miyamoto: At this point, we've only been talking with a few companies. However, if other companies come forward and they want to join us to work with us to create games, of course that would be great for us. One thing we want to make sure that we don't do is have too many games of the same type or genre. We don't want too many games involving the same themes or characters.

There isn't really any cause to spaz out over this - misunderstood Nintendo quotes are in absolute abundance if you think back to past press conferences.

Roughly translated - Nintendo will continue to produce an equal quantity of games for the Revolution as they have done for its predecessors, but they will make an effort to introduce diversity.

He's not aiming for the current level, he's looking to drive it further.

But that's marketing speak for, "nothing significant". If he thinks it's at a "high-water mark" right now then he's aiming very low indeed.
