Just something my brother pointed out to me yesterday, that was so obvious I missed it.

So the machines are farming humans for the energy right?

Ok, Neo and Trinity fly above the cloud layer, and its bright and sunny.

Are the machines so naff that they can't build structures above this cloud layer and use solar energy? I mean, Its only a couple of 100 feet from the ground.

BAH! STUPID FILM! >:( >:(

a few hundred feet? It's significantly higher than that.

Besides, it's likely far easier to gather energy on the ground. Collecting solar energy would require continuously sending something to fly up, gather solar energy and come down again. Likely consuming much of the stored energy in the process.

So why bother with such an inefficient method when they can sit around sucking up human energy, which can be provided 24 hours a day and doesn't require a wasteful gathering process.

Oh, come on :)

Farming humans, creating the matrix, Zion, rebellions, war.

Building a structure to penetrate the cloud cover and using solar energy. No flying needed.

Whats the simpler solution?

Just found this on www.moviemistakes.com

"Plot hole: The whole plot of the Matrix trilogy basically comes down to the fact that the humans "scorched the sky" (i.e. they created black clouds all over the Earth), thus cutting the energy from the Sun to the machines. Therefore machines started to use humans as their source of power. In Revolutions we see that the machines are able to build huge structures (such as the Fields and the City) - so why did they just not build huge solar power panels above the clouds? They are capable enough to do that, surely?"

Basically exactly what I've just said.

This is prbably wrong, but here I go anyway.

In revolutions when neo and trinity fly up through to the sun, the machines cant handle it, therefore machines can't get that high in order to build what ever you guys are talking about.

????

Since when does flying have anything to do with building structures? Can we fly? Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't humans build the Empire State and World Trade Center?

The WTC and the Empire State do not exceeed the troposphere, which is 31 miles high, and the probable limit of the scorch field.
