So what do you think will be the top few scary moments voted for by the public?
I would think that the final scene from 'Blair Witch Project' where the guy is standing in the corner of the basement and both of the people get killed would be in the top couple, if not number one.
The Psycho shower scene is bound to be in the top few I think
The excorcist scene where she turns her head around will be there, despite it not been scary now, it was scary at the time (70/80's or whenever it was made)
Personally I think the scariest movie moment is from "The Ring" where the girl crawls out from the TV or where it flashes a glimpse of her dead in the closet.
I do not find serial killer 'horrors' scary, I much prefer a good old supernatural scare.
So what are your top few scariest moments in movies or tv?
His name is Danny.

The scene with the twins is pretty spine-tingling but the only scene it showed was the cutting the door down and saying "Here's Johnny" which in my opinion isn't scary.

They picked 120 and the public narrowed it down to 100

This fully deserves number 1 spot. I've watched more Horror films than you're had hot dinners and nothing has ever effected me in the same way that the scene with the 2 little girls asking the kid to "come pleay with us Tommy, forever and ever". The majority of the rest of the film I thought was pretty mediocre, but that one scene is enough to make grown men soil themselves.

I dont agree that it should be number one, but i do agree with you when you say you have to have a good imagination. (some bloody imagination though) My partners 24 year old brother is terrified of this film and wont watch it again. So i cant begin to imagine what he imagines when watching it.
I however must have no imagination what so ever!
What was the Goodfellas scene? (scariest bit of that movie is when Jimmy is trying to get Karen to go into pick out a dress - I was convinced she was gonna get whacked)
10 - A Nightmare On Elm Street
9 - The Omen
8 - Texas Chainsaw Massacre
7 - Halloween
6 - Ring (Japanese one)
5 - The Blair Witch Project
4 - Alien
3 - Jaws
2 - Excorcist
1 - The Shining
It's not a bad top ten but I dont fully agree with it.
Nightmare on elm street deserves its position in the top ten as it is original and genuinely is scary the first time you see it
The Omen is mediocre, not strictly speaking THAT scary.
Texas Chainsaw Massacre is dark, moody and fully deserves its position
Halloween is the best serial killer horror flick.
Ring, From the clips it looks scary but the remake is damn frightening too. I would be too busy reading the subtitles to get scared.
The Blair Witch Project - Should be number 1. Some people are like "oh its not scary you never see anything, blah blah blah." You have to use your imagination otherwise I agree, its rubbish.
Alien - At number 4 this doesnt deserve its place. Top ten, maybe. Number 4, nope. Its more sci-fi than horror.
Jaws - Yeah, it is bloody scary but its not a horror film. But it does have a long lasting psychological effect. I hate deep water now... damn Spielberg.
The Excorcist - Not scary to my generation but in it's time it was nasty. Probably deserves its place.
The Shining - I have seen numerous versions of this and the Jack Nicholson version isn't the scariest. The version directed by Steven King is scarier and about 4 hours long too. Deserves one of the top spots I think.
That's what happens when you let the public vote, I mean, look at Pop Idol - pfft.
